MTN Super League side Green Buffaloes have part ways with head coach Masauso Tembo following a disappointing 2024/2025 Super League campaign.
The ZamFoot Crew understands that the Buffaloea’ hierarchy decided that it was time to part ways after a less than impressive campaign.
Back in December, The two almost part ways after Buffaloes nearly missed out on the ABSA Cup only for a later Lumwana Radiants goal to save his job.
According to ZamFoot Crew sources at Green Buffaloes, Tembo at the beginning of the season was given a 2 year performance based contract after his first contract expired in July 2024.
The ZamFoot Crew can reveal that some of the requirements of that contract was to qualify for the ABSA Cup and finish in the top four.
Despite sneaking into the ABSA Cup the Zambia army sponsored outfit were dumped out in the round of 16 by Kansanshi Dynamos with a humiliating 4-1 defeat.
Buffaloes also finished in seventh place hence the club’s hierarchy deciding it was time to call it quits.
Assistant coach Dears Kakunta who joined Tembo’s backroom staff at the start of last season is seen as a favourite to take over.
Kakunta previously served as Young Green Buffaloes assistant coach and also worked as the Club’s video analysis coach.
The ZamFoot Crew understands that Buffaloes are also weighing their options with Aggrey Chiyangi being looked at as a possible replacement for Masauso Tembo.
Chiyangi’s work at Nkwazi has been nothing short of impressive. Despite navigating a tough environment, he’s consistently delivered top-notch results, sending a clear message to other clubs that he’s a force to be reckoned with.
