Red Arrows have been blowing hot and cold this season. The Airmen have had a mixed start to the season with defensive and goalkeeping errors costing Chissy Mbewe’s men on several occasions.
A goalkeeping error again cost them against Forest Rangers on Saturday as the Airmen dropped points on the road, losing 2-1 away to Forest Rangers at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
After the match in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew, Chissy Mbewe could not hide his disappointment with his defense and Goalkeeper.
”First things first may I return all the glory to the highest God in good and in bad situations we need to give thanks to God, coming to the game I feel am disappointed I won’t hide my feelings because this is the game that we gave everything and we just lost concentration. We allowed them to score what I will describe as silly goals and eventually that’s how we gave away the lead,” he said.
“Well I think the most important thing we need to work on our concentration levels I feel that’s, where we are dropping most of the points if you look at the first goal that they scored us we were late to close, where the ball dropped and again if you see the second again it was a mistake by the goalkeeper (Ken Mumba) which I feel we saw the state of the pitch he opted to catch the ball rather than punch it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Forest Rangers assistant coach Owen Kaposa described the game as tough and went on to give credit to his Boys for the hard work to come from a goal down.
Kaposa went on to reveal that the team wants to play the ABSA Cup hence hoping to finish in the top six at midway.
“The game was very tough, we were playing tough opponents, Red Arrows who have been doing very well of late, I just give credit to the boys for coming back from a goal down. We have been conceding at least a goal every game in the last few games but it is good that we are also scoring,” he said.
“The good thing with our team (Forest Rangers) is that we are creating chances. I hope one day will score even five goals. What’s important now is to just give the strikers confidence so that even when they miss they don’t look down as it is their job to score.”
” Our target this season is to do better than we did last season. This win has given us hope because we want to play the ABSA Cup, We are third with a game in hard though a game in hand does not equal points in hand, we have to concentrate on that game,” he added.
The Airmen have got a chance to redeem themselves on Wednesday, January 27th as they travel to Choma to face Green Eagles while Forest Rangers host Lumwana Radiants at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Both matches will kick at 15:00.
