Chipolopolo to get new coach as government comes to the aid of FAZ

Sports Minister Vincent Mwale has announced that government is engaged with FAZ on the selection and appointment of a new coach for the Chipolopolo. Mwale told parliament on Thursday that “Zambia has no coach”.

“Whether they confirm Janza as coach is up-to to FAZ. It (the national team) only has a technical director seconded to the national team,” Mwale said adding that there were possibilities government would finance the salary of the new coach.

FAZ is set to name a new coach over the coming weeks with Janza reverting to his substantive role of technical director. Football House has recently restated that Janza was in the job on a temporal measure and would now return to his office at the secretariat.

Zambian Football understands that the new coach will be handed the mandate to get Zambia to its maiden FIFA World Cup finals in Russia 2018 with AFCON2017 triumph another top point of engagement.

Janza is set to take charge of his last match as stand-in coach this Sunday when Chipolopolo take on Rwanda’s Amavumbi at the National Heroes stadium on Sunday.

    • Nonsense, why can’t Janza apply? Do we live in a democracy? Transparency is what is expected & any body at all can apply including Janza & even you.
We no longer want to live in the “animal farm” of yours where restrictions are placed on the activities of fellow human beings unduly. GROW UP FROM YOUR STONE AGE THINKING.

  1. Let us hope the process will be transparent so that a gud coach is hired. On another note Nigeria got hammered by Uganda 1 – 0 in a friendly game in Nigeria. It was nice to see a giant fall yesterday. That Ugandan goal tender is so good and Kennedy Mweene has a lot to do to win back his position. As for Jnaza you tried your best but i think the task was just too big for you. Word of caution for the incoming coach pliz dont bring in tired legs, build on the team that Janza left and you will succeed, there is a lot of potential in the young lads.

    • wow are we already going to tell the coach how to do his job before he even gets hired??

Old legs, new legs, old system, new system whatever wins us games and qualifies us for tournaments is what we should tell the coach. He should have a working system that’s all. lets not impose on the coach before he even sets foot in Zambia.

  2. Plse Select A Coach Who Wil Groom The Young Stars.Janza Has Done Zambia Well By Identifyin Those Young Stars.Government For The People.Although Some Young Stars Already Becomin Big Headed.

  3. FAZ is a very irresponsible institution, serious consequences should follow Kalusha and his team. It is foolish for a Nation to be spending so much money on decisions made by high irresponsible people who do not care about the consequences. This money (over 2 million Kwacha) would have benefited the growth of spot in a huge way around the country.

I strongly denounce this act by Kalusha and Government. And I am calling for the removal of Kalusha and his entire team. These guys have reached their point of elasticity and there is nothing new this country will benefit.

Zambia come on lets show some growth in our ambitions and spot development plans.

    A real shame…….

  4. HJ performed very badly,I dont think he discovered any player of his own . He lacked confidence and tactical abilities to apply at a high level. He basically has no proper philosophy of how chipolopolo should play. He inheritated a good team that played Japan in Miami ,but the current team cant even string a few passes

  5. Honour Janza Did Well To Pharse Out Old Gangs And Fuse In Fresh Blood. In My View Bringing Self Imposed Singuluma On Board Is The Greatest Achievement.Zambian Foo Tball Is Know For Possesion Football But Of Late Little Was Seen.

  6. IT WILL BE VERY INTRESTING TO SEE HOW THE NEW COACH WILL FAIR, FAZ SHOULD BE RESTRUCTURED, WE DONT HAVE CONFIDENCE IN KALU, LETS HOPE THE GRZ WILL SPEED UP THE MOVE AND SHOULD URGE FAZ TO ADVERTISE THE POSITION

  7. Personally I don’t think PF will take Zambia anywhere but so far I’m liking this new sports minister, he seems to have his ducks in a row. Just a short while ago he said he was looking into the clown DVD Bonnetti thing and now a short while later it is sorted, now that’s action and not just words.

I wish he could be involved in the coach selection but then again that would set a very bad precedent. The FA should have full autonomy when it comes to coach selection. Yes Kalu and Kasengele can’t be trusted in transparently and without bias selecting a coach purely on merit but government should still not get involved. They can assist with financing the salary but we should keep selection within the confines of FAZ. What government should do is insist on transparency in the process.

  8. We dont need a coach, he is moths to late. African cup has been played and lost. The young talents learned how get there ass whipped….

Why is FAZ engaging a coach now, its to pretend that they still have something to offer. Now what might happen is FAZ leave office and the next Admin is stuck with a coach they dont want.!!! Well it will be good if this FAZ leaves office, there time is done.

The minister, who i agree seems good, should try insure that whoever comes is not bound to a new executive committee next year potentially. IE he may be got rid of at the choosing. Not like that crap that happened with Bonetti.

  9. Zambia needs a Barcelona well groomed youth coach. At all levels we are unable to string passes together to fashion a goal, this is how Mayuka was injured, a shot at goal was reached out for. Our goals at all levels are freak goals, resulting from opposition mistakes or 100% individual goals. no team work up front!

  10. u guys are amaizing with you analysis of zambian soocer i wish some of you you wre working for FAZ and others coaches of some club maybe soccer would have improved. however, we hope FAZ will give us a better coach this time around. we seriously need to qualify to the world cup.and thumbs up for janza for removing old tired legs lets now wait and see how he chipolopolo will be.

  11. do we hv mone 2 pay that gud coach, hw much is gov willing 2 pay? That coach r expensive.lastly do we hv players in zambia who can deliver?

    • yes we have money to pay the coach like we have just bailed out irresponsible Faz to pay bonnet, I don’t how much the govn is willing I think Hon Mwale my tribal cousin is the right person to answer that one. Off course yes , we do have players like master chung Sung Zung, ba mupa, sate sate, abena Nyambe Mulenga am sure you have remembered them now brotherman

  12. I want a new coach but any coach coming now i see as only being a political tool to take the stress of FAZ and the mess they put football in. Wake up people. Ati 2017 2018. Faz should have thought of that before.

  13. The choice nof coach will be determined to a great degree by how much we can afford to pay him. affordable options include the former Uganda coach Bobby Williamson, the white witch doctor Phillip Trousier, and Claude Le Roy.

  14. Fellow Bloggers reMove Politics and be objective on the gaMe..
Wen Janaza compalianed abt his contract a week before afcon.. Kambwili said if Janaza you hav failed quit now or we fiire you!!! Rather than givig excuses at the last minute…
Most of you bloggers Insulted Kambwili for his reactions on Janza, equalli I was thot to be senseless wen I seconded his concern on janza…
Now you believ Janza was being amateure ed wasteing our tyM??
Now u believ KaMbwili was right in the first place ??
Thankx to Gvt we need a coach not Techncal director on paper who can’t do the job!!!

  15. Is Zambia playing Rwanda today or what? And I thought Faz had an indaba yesterday where important issues were discussed. No wonder some people are looking into starting another online football website. No current news on zamfoot for days. Lol

  16. I’m sorry but bad zamfoot you’re simply crap. Those of us outside the country rely on this sight and this is what we get? It’s clear to see you started this site way before you were ready to.
