Chipolopolo bashed in Namibia

The Zambia national team went down to a humiliating 2 – 1 loss at the hands of Cosafa Champions Namibia a Rwanda CHAN qualifier played in Windhoek.

In a game of two halves, the Chipolopolo started well and looked to be on their way to avenging the quarter final loss to Namibia in the Cosafa Cup when Winstone Kalengo put Zambia ahead in the 15th minute.

Zambia were clearly a head above the hosts as they dominated play with Fackson Kapumbu, Allan Mukuka and Jackson Mwanza terrorizing the Namibian defence and it looked like it was only a matter of time before the second goal would come.

However, Namibia were saved by the break and they returned from the dressing room a different team.

The Namibians were quicker on the ball and fought hard not allowing the Zambians any chance to settle and they got their equalizer 11 minutes after the restart.

From then on the hosts were in the driving seat and did not look back as they punished the George Lwandamina coached side with a second goal moments later.

Chicken’s boys were left chasing shadows as the Namibians turned on the heat with some showboating with the Zambian midfield clearly overrun.

Lwandamina tried to stabilise the ship by bringing in defensive midfielder Paul Katema for striker Jimmy Ndhlovu and introducing Charles Zulu for Allan Mukuka. The Zambians however held their own to keep the margin slender and will look to the away go as the silver lining to the grey cloud.

Zambia face Namibia in Lusaka on July 5 in the return leg.

Danny Munyao, Donashano Malama, Fackson Kapumbu, Bronson Chama, Christopher Munthali, Kondwani Mtonga, Justin Zulu (Patrick Ngoma), Allan Mukuka (Charles Zulu),Winston Kalengo, Jimmy Njobvu (Paul Katema), Jackson Mwanza.

  1. @Doc, Hammer who ? Maybe beating them 1-nil. Where are you getting that courage to say that ? Do you think we have what it takes to hammer a team ? There is no team that can be hammered by this Zambian team currently my dear. Wake up and face reality. Pray for a 1-o win in the return leg. I am a Zambian and I love chipolopolo, but we need to face reality.

    • Zambia has never been a giant before. Which former giant? Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Egypt, Cameroon are giants of African football and have always been.

  2. For sure this is real bashing! Mwebantu what is happening pa zed with our chipolopolo? The second half the team was TOTALLY out played and the zambian players looked lost.If this is the way they will perform in return leg then count ourselves out of this tournament. Our technical bench should also be quick to read the game and make necessary changes. All the best in the return leg.

  3. At least we got an away goal. Looks like Namibia is improved a lot. They have that confidence after banging the COSAFA Cup. We have to be careful in 2 weeks time.

  4. Awe kwena stupid, useless Namibia show boating against us,Kalu bro how are you feeling, simple guess fine, very fine since the Arabs give you loans coupled with jersey sales and cuts from sale of players you are always recommending while us the owners of the platform you and your clowns are using to your own benefits are left with something to smile about, you such a disgrace not only to the Nation but also the dynamite you worked hard to creat. All just

    • “Useless Namibia” wasn’t show boating. They were using their natural God given talent to outsmart those Zambian school boys.

  5. Always , we are used as well as very tired, I don’t know if the drawing is full for Kalusha to think. If you allow such results in your football house pave way for other to run the Zambian FA. May be my fellow Soccer Fans you are accepting what is happening in nowadays results??????

  6. As expected,Zambia has lost to Namibia again. The question we should all be asking is what after this?and what are we doing wrongly at football house? Are those players picked on merits? Those vested with the responsibility of picking players, what level of objectivity are they
    using.
It’s important the above question are critically reflected upon.
African football has changed greatly, players are now becoming more and more aggressive and combative in style of play. Therefore there is no room for relaxation.Swiftness has become a vital element of the game.
Consequently, players without these attributes are finding it difficult to cope. And we have such players in the name of,Mtonga,Chama,Mutanli and many others.
As long as we insist on using these boys,I see Zambia remaining in this quagmire.

    • That is very true especially since we lifted the African Cup of Nations.Let us hope a new coach is appointed as quickly as possible.

  7. have played football though not competitive. I have also followed the Zambian football thus am able to tell who is a national team material.the following players are by far national materials;Paul katema, jackson mwanza, donashamo malama, winstone kalengo and jimmy ndhlovu. To me its like this lwandamina guy is also a headless chicken who could not come up with his own players instead he is using the same uselss players who cannot trap a ball .

  8. I doubt if lwadamina has an say in team selection.I can see an invisible hand in this.Someone is pulling stirrings in the process of team selection

  9. THIS is the same (B)team apart from Mweene that was beaten three weeks ago.Its true Namibia new that there were no stars in the Zambian team. Instead of beefing Janza with chicken, you fire Janza, now you are done.Look for strikers who can stand 120 minutes without exhausted, your midfielders and strikers just last for 45minutes,then wornout.
    who to blame,coach,players or FAZ?

  10. @ Chipa, I totally agree with you what you have said is totally lucking in our team. Without speed, aggressiveness & combativeness in the team, no goals will be coming.

Our team is just to casual & slow on the ball, What do they eat mwebantu in camp? give them proper NSHIMA not porridge please.Seriously look at the diet.Avoid chicken & chips.

  11. Lwandamina started with 4 players from Zesco FC, a team he coaches! That should explain volumes about the hungry Zambian coaches who see opportunity to chew when they are appointed! He even expected to win!

  12. Zambia is no more. We will surely miss the Zambian dimension. I.mean those days when fan would shout words such as ‘ John Sokooooooooo , mulyate.’ Players of those years had a role. The words in quotes emphasise that. Even fans new one of the many roles John played.

  13. Allow me to repeat again and again this chipolopolo side its old people’s home . Under 23 side should be elevated to the senior team we need to inject young blood. I attribute this loss to poor team selection .

  14. awe sure, what is really happening. I think enough is enough its time for us funs to react, or else these results will also going to be the same during afcom qualification. We might not qualifies.i support kalu but this time I think he has failed us completely, time for him to resign. This chicken of a coach is useless and he is very corrupt, this is nonsense iam very upset with these guys.

  15. Kalusha 99 jobs Bwalya has totally messed up our football, the guy is busy watching south African league yet he is the one selecting local players for our Chan squad.George two weeks is enough for good coachs to select and polish players.this time select players on merit.our local squad should look like this.1 Munyau 2.Derrick Mwansa 3.kapumbu 4.Muntali 5.Kayawe 6.Mtonga 7.Allan Mukuka 8.lary Bwalya 9.Patrick Ngoma 10.Moses 11.Mudenda. Sub Davy Kalanganya, shadrick Musonda, situmbeko,Jacob Banda, kasusu,P Daka,Sitali, chaila and Charles Zulu.

  17. We no longer have such players who can hammer goalkeepers any more. The Zambian hammer style is no more. This is a result of the calibre of players we produce and it should not surprise us. We no longer have strikers who can hammer hard when an opportunity arises. Back then we used to have players like Boyd Chilembo, Francis Chisenga, Edwin Muluba, Abram Mubanga, Langson Phiri, Mechack Mwanza, Philemon Chisala, Dominic Changwe, Owen Mbewe, Roderick Chipeta, Rogers Lwandamina etc. Talent was abundant in Zambia and we could export players overseas and to neighbouring countries, yet those who remained at home could perform to our satisfaction.

  18. thy are now beaten us cleary.i think these church you must break this chipolopolo and go into diferent club to make gud selection.some you faz u must in rural areas u check there the players there is gud talentd boys who are not have accese to come to big team where u can see them fast.

  19. Watching Green buffaloes against Nkwanzi convinced me that we will never have a national team to talk about with such caliber in the league. The Nkwanzi team I saw is second on the league. What a joke of a league!

  20. There was a number 7 or a right winger for NAPSA Stars in yesterdays match against Konkola Blades, how old is that guy? If he is under 20, then I think he will soon be something to marvel about.

  21. What do you expect from these players? The earlier we realised that our players are below average, the better. The only players I have seen who can player against any team is Kalaba, Sinkala, Lubambo, Fwayo, Mweene and Chisamba. The rest are very useless and below average. We better get used to these losses.

  22. If you look carefully the way our players play, it’s like big rocks/stone have been tied to their legs. They ate are so slow and amateurish.

  23. This cyber world has killed our players. We no longer take football seriously. It’s not only Zambia which is suffering. RSA, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, you can name them all are all finished. Players spend time on expensive cell phones or gadgets chatting and playing those useless tunes instead of playing football. Where are the Okochas, Chamangwanes, Ndlovus, Bwalyas, Radebes. Today’s players fail to emulate those of yester years yet they have everything at their disposable to keep fit inclusive of gyms etc etc.

  24. Don’t undermine us, the team that defeated Zambia yesterday was made up by most of the under 20 players that won the Metropolitan under 19 cup in Cape Town and Manetti was the coach

    • Mr Don’t lie which under 20 players won the metropolitan cup from Namibia? only in your dreams will an under 20.team beat a Zambian team.

  25. Ok natupwa we must admit that winning has become a thing of the past coz if we r not drawin then we r losing games… Mwe lesa

  26. its funny to see how people contradict themselves blly in particular. this moment kalusha is selecting players another time we have average players muleikala fye ba kolwe
