Chinku takes over at Lusaka Dynamos

Lusaka Dynamos have appointed Ronald Chinku as head coach with immediate from Monday.

Chinku takes over from former Zambia international Perry Mutapa, who has been relegated to the assistant role together with Masauso Tembo.

According to the ZamFoot Crew insiders, both Mutapa and Masauso have felt undone with the move from the executive committee.

Training was delayed at Zamsure Sports Complex as meetings were conducted on the pitch side while the players waited.

“Last season Perry turned down an offer from Forest Rangers while Masauso was wanted by Zanaco to be Numba Mumamba’s assistant before they brought David Chilufya but he said no as well,” the ZamFoot Crew insider said

“The two soldiered on last season even when at some point they were not being paid but now with a lot of money coming in from the local sponsor they are being caught offside.

Chinku has coached in Swaziland and his last job was in Mozambique and only came back to Zambia to obtain a CAF C licence only to be offered ‘The Elite’ job.

The ZamFoot Crew also understands that the new Lusaka Dynamos main sponsor is a Lusaka Lawyer [Name withheld because he wishes to remain in the background] and successful business , and obtained around 50% shares with Hanif Adams around 35% while Mofya Chisala also some shares.

Lusaka Dynamos have already signed kit sponsorship deal with a Zambian company and two buses are on their way to Lusaka.

The players were paid on Monday afternoon after the win over Mufulira Blackpool with the winning bonuses four times more compared to last season.

Those inside the Lusaka Dynamos talk, there’s even talk of challenging for the league title and thus the reason why they recalled Conlyde Luchanga.

  1. Challenging for the league title is a far fetched wish. Top dogs of the league already have their hands on it. When they start battling small teams like Lusaka Dynamos will suffer. Well, it is good they are ambitious. That is good for soccer. However, at the moment it looks like the real battles will be fought by Zesco,Zanaco,Power and GBFC. Spicing up the battles looks most likely to be a role played by Mufulira Wanderers, Nkana and probably some surprise package. However, the spicers are capable of stealing the show.

    • I also surprised, someone breaks their back to qualify the team to the premier league and then you demote them. This doesnt make sense.

  2. Take a look at the picture and let it sink in. Training kits and football ground all looking mediocre. if you did not tell me anything i would have said this is a local market team in Mtendere or Kanyama training not a premier league team. Not even a high school team looks this amateurish in South Africa. We have some way to go in Zambia in our professionalism. Then someone will even say Hanif for FAZ president. It would be funny if it was’nt heartbreaking.

  3. Before all this unfolded I thought Lusaka Dynamos had a very good chance of doing well in this years league with all this money being pumped in I thought they were moving in one accord but I guess I was wrong and truth be told…they have just shot themselves in the foot. Perry and Masauso spent the entire preseason drilling the team and the results showed over the weekend as they won away from home but now all I see is confusion which is tantamount to self destruction!

  4. What a bad move mutapa n masauso are very capable coaches judging from how they handled the team on a limited budget. Now with the money coming in it was a chance for them to blossom. Challenging for title??? n then u make such a move are u kidding me???

  5. Its so disappointing that after Mutapa and Masauso had there tough time of managing the team when fund was not there then selfishness comes to kill their efforts and time. Its jealous, selfishness that will kill Zambia soccer and will some leaders who do not have directions in their leadership. Please I beg let us stop this kind leadership, Masauso and Mutapa time will tell for the battle has started for the title.

  6. National Team we want to be bringing back players that have been there and done it all, coaching, coaches that have been there and done it all. Sad for Zambian soccer. Was just comparing the team that qualified us to Afcon 82 1.Ghost Mulenga 2.Milton Muke 3.Kaiser Kalambo 4.Emmy Musonda 5.Michael Musonda 6. Willie Phiri 7. Jack Chanda 8. Jani Simulambo 9. Alex Chola 10. Fanny Hangunyu 11. Peter Kaumba and one that played at Afcon 1.Ghost Mulenga 2. Milton Muke 3. JOHN KALUSA 4. Emmy Musonda 5. Michael Musonda 6. Willie Phiri 7.PATRICK PHIRI 8. JERICHO SHINDE 9. Alex Chola 10.GODFREY MUNSHYA 11.Peter Kaumba-progressively 4 changes within a short period and now we still want to believe that thos that won us Afcon 2012 but flopped in 2013 can still take us to the promised land. Granted youngsters have not been to scratch but who didnt go through this route? Derby Mankinka in a friendly against Malawi as a youngsters was taken to the cleaners by a Kennedy Malunga inspired Malawan midfield with Zambia outplayed on the day and were lucky to even salvage a 2-2 draw with Big Mike “Zozo” Chabala scoring a thunderbolt off a freekick. Christopher Katongo, Chamanga and Jacob also were novices in 2006 and/or 2008 Afcons until they started blossoming in 2010 and rest is history. At the last Afcon, Cameroun introduced a gem of a youngster against Herve’s Cote in the final 15minutes and i saw a new Eto. Gues where this youngster is? Spurs in the EPL and none other than Clinton Njie. Let’s be realistic with our expectations and rebuild with young ones but with patience lest we shall forever be doomed. And these roaming and roving coaches like Chambeshi, Chubby Chabala, Chinku etc please give chance to the up and coming. Bravo to Zanaco that have taken the right risk and sustainable benefits shall soon be seen enmasse

  7. More money in the game.Football will never be the same. Its serious business. Munthali K150,000. who is next highest priced player in Zambia.

  8. Yes there is great improvement at Lusaka Dynamos,as usual team officials are doing the coaching staff bad!!they paid k2000 to each of the 18 players who won in Kitwe at the weekend then paid k1000 to each coaches,IMAGINE?Hanif Adams and his fellow officials do not trust Perry Mutapa as he sold a game to NAPSA STARS last season!!since then,Lusaka Dynsmos stopped trusting him!!SO ITS HIS LOVE FOR QUICK MONEY WHICH HAS MADE PERRY MUTAPA DROPPED FROM HEAD COACH!!Masautso Tembo was told to replace Perry Mutapa as head coach but he refused since Perry Mutapa is his BEST FRIEND!!!

    • @Eddy if that is the reasoning behind the change at Lusaka Dynamos then its unfortunate and regrettable but I still feel the timing is wrong, Lusaka Dynamos had enough time after the league came to an end to sack Perry and Masauso if at all its true they sold the game but now its too late

  9. To make matters worse,Ronald Chinku is not as qualified as those 3 other coaches at Lusaka Dynamos who are Perry Mutapa,Masautso Tembo and Manchi Janza.the three coaches have CAF B Licences!!THIS IS WHEN RONALD CHINKU IS TRYING TO OBTAIN CAF C,MEANING HE HAS A CAF D LICENCE JUST LIKE MANY OTHER OLD ZAMBIAN COACHES!!!SO HANIF ADAMS HAS NOT SHOWN RESPECT TO THE 3 MORE QUALIFIED COACHES WHO WORKED LAST YEAR MINUS A SALARY OR WINNING BONUSES!!THEY ONLY USED PASSION FOR FOOTBALL.NOW THAT A TEAM HAS A SPONSOR,OFFICIALS HAVE HATED THESE 3 COACHES WHO SUFFERED FOR THE CLUB-AMAZING!!
