Zambia U20 national team coach Beston Chambeshi has said his team’s win is a collective victory but was quick to single out goalkeeper Mangani Banda for the two brilliant saves he pulled out in the game that saw Zambia beat Guinea 1 – 0.
And man of the match and goal scorer for Zambia Patson Daka said his team is now in the position where they wanted to be as they started with a win.
Below are some quotes from the post match press conference….
Patson Daka (Total Man of the Match)
This is a dream, to start the competition with a victory. We are really very happy because it was a very difficult game and the crowd gave us the courage and the motivation to go for the victory.
The competition has just started for us and we will approach the match against Mali with serenity. It will be a different opponent, so it will be a different approach.
Beston Chambeshi (Head Coach, Zambia)
It’s a great start to the competition against a serious and tactically successful opponent.
The important thing is the three points that allows the team to advance and prepare in the best conditions.
It’s a collective victory. You cannot get out a performance and I want pay tribute to the goalkeeper [Mangani Banda] who saved two situations.
I am impressed by the maturity of my players who did not bow to the pressure.
Mandjou Diallo (Head Coach, Guinea)
It’s a shame to have lost such a match due to an individual error. Also, one can deplore the bad placement of the players especially in defence since it is from that the goal came.
It is an unpardonable fault at this level, but I have to bow and congratulate Zambia, who played a great game of soccer, made of commitment and rapid projections forward.
We have lost a game, not the tournament. Now, we have to go back and prepare for the next match against Egypt in the best way.

These guys will form the core of our future Copper Bullets. Let’s groom them nicely so that they are all snatched by European clubs and not RSA or Egypt. There’s always been talent in Zambia but the problem is how we manage our players.
Right on.
a new breed of wailing wailers have emerged here on zamfoot, “undefeated guru” and “egwugwu”. grandpapa wailer stumpy has returned to make noise, we are in trouble.
I watched the game from the 24th minute when i got back from church. I’m happy the boys got a win. As hosts the pressure is on you to get a result in the first game. The stadium was packed which was added pressure on the boys. It was a difficult game.
The Guineans were well organised in the midfield. The played a better coordinated game than Zambia. We need to work harder next game especially our midfield.
The keeper M.Banda, Mwepu impressed me, P.Daka was also a threat upfront when he had the ball. He looks like a good finisher to me. I was also impressed by Portugal based Emmanuel Banda when he came in the second half.
The goal that was ruled for offside was a clear goal, assistant Ref got it wrong. It could have been 2-0 to Zambia. It was a good header by Kalunga or E. Banda not sure.

@Sibs it was Edward Chilufya. Infact he scored two goals both of which were incorrectly ruled offside. I must say he was my man of the match
THAT BOY CAN RUN. BUT TEAM GAME. BOYS NEED EACH OTHER. I SAW A FEW WAYWARD SHOOTING.
I agree with you on Edward Chilufya. The boy’s movements were so intelligent that I wondered why the fuss was heaped on patson, fashion and conlyde. Edward had a good effective game; he hardly lost the ball. To as well, he is my MotM.
Shoot, you guys are making me jealous, I missed watching the game.
@ba Phirie. Yes it was the same player he scored one in the 1st half and another 2nd half. Both goals i have to agree with you were incorrectly ruled offside.
Panyo dox or polo dox these are your new names it seems like you want to start a bif with me you moron I will tell you this! Bring it on boy! yes bring it on!
I am sure !d!0t Issa is embarrased at seeing the our stadium full to capacity and its only u-20, yet most AFCON games hosted by West African francophone country(due to his dubius hosting awarding) are near empty. In eq.Guinea, I head the corrupt President even paid the fans to show up to watch their mediocre teams. Kudos to the die fans that went to support the boys.
Well-done boys! Keep it up! More pressure on the cooker and cook ’em boys!!!
Our next game is going to be tough! Those chaps from Mali are determined to win. I should admit Egypt survived…..
All the best boys, we’ve got this!
Paradox am not a wailer but a real soccer lover.l want the best for chipolopolo.we are told the cadres took charge of entrance to the stadium.so this is bad for our football and when we talk you are quick to protect your mulamu kamanga .The jersey looked pathetic whilest guinea was nicely dressed.l wonder if you watched the game at heroes l was there in VIP
