CAF envoys could play home games outside Zambia – Kamanga

FAZ Supremo Andrew Kamanga says the two Zambian envious in CAF interclubs Competitions could play outside the country should Heroes Stadium and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium not be worked on.

The Confederation of African football (CAF) has already condemned the National Heroes Stadium from hosting international matches while Levy needs to be worked on after the Chipolopolo vs Ivory Coast match.

Kamanga has also revealed that the Association has made available the Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant for the two continental bound teams.

Kamanga has urged teams to improve and work on matters of crowd control and other safety measures.

“With Power Dynamos flying our flag in the CAF Champions League, we all must rally behind them alongside MUZA who will be campaigning in the Confederation Cup. While we grieve about the reduced slots in continental championships, we can however reclaim our slots through good performances of our envoys. We have no doubt that the two envoys will be up to the task of representing.

We have extended the gesture to them of seeking the expertise of Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant and his team of experts should they require it. Ultimately, this is something that can only be availed if required. There are a lot of lessons from the 2022/23 season with clubs expected to do better in the next campaign. We expect that matters of crowd control and other safety measures will be amplified in the next season.

Teams should invest more in upgrading their infrastructure to meet club licensing criteria,” Kamanga said.

Kamanga says the Association will engage the Ministry of Sports to find a solution to the problem of the two Stadiums.

“There is a great risk of our two continental envoys playing their matches outside the country if the stadia earmarked to host their matches is not worked on. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already banned National Heroes Stadium from hosting international matches while Levy Mwanawasa Stadium will have to be worked on after hosting the June 17 Africa Cup of Nations match between Zambia and Ivory Coast,” he said.

“CAF has provided a checklist of what needs to be worked on to revamp the infrastructure with the turfs at the two stadia top of the list. Although we do not own these facilities, we will engage the authorities to ensure that a national solution is found.”

Power Dynamos will play in the CAF Champions League after winning the league while FC MUZA who finished second will play in the CAF Confederation Cup.

  1. Either CAF or FAZ are very funny. How do Levy and Heroes not make the grade? Have they seen some of these stadia around the continent. Ma jokes aya. I see a ploy by FAZ to get the stadia handed to them to look after but we all know that will be an even bigger disaster.

  2. Agree Logic.
It’s a real disappointment when two new stadiums don’t make the grade. How can FAZ not be aware that the turfs were below par.
What about the other stadia then. Kabwe warriors stadium looked they were using slashers to cut the grass some years ago.
Was it Choma Green Eagles stadium or somewhere there abouts where there was no grass …just red sand??
