CAF Confederation Cup – Group Stage: Napsa 2 – 2 JSK (Jimmy Mukeya 12′, Daisy Soko 63′ | Amos Simwanza (O.G) 83′, Nezra 90′)
Napsa Stars gave away a healthy 2 – 0 lead to draw 2 – 2 at home against visiting Algerian side JS Kabylie in a CAF Confederation Cup second round group stage match played at Heroes Stadium.
With coach Mohamad Fathi out on compassionate leave, assistant coach Chintu Kampamba led the team naming a familiar line up with only Ghanian Daniel Adoko coming in for suspended skipper Dickson Chapa.
Teenager Jimmy Mukeya and Doisy Soko started upfront for Napsa.
The visitors were more purposeful and pushed the game to Napsa in the opening exchanges but a counter attacking against the run of play on the right saw Austin Banda lose his marker to send a cross into the box. Soko’s header from the cross came off the upright with the keeper beaten but young Mukeya was on hand to head home for the opener in the 12th minute.
Despite the dominance of the Algerian side and a couple of nervous moments by goalkeeper Rabson Muchelenganga, Napsa held their own to end the half with a 1 – 0 lead.
The hosts looked a better side after the restart and were keeping the ball better and attacking more.
Soko extended the lead for Napsa in the 63rd minute when he took advantage of some miscommunication in the Napsa defense to finish off with ease.
Napsa were unfortunate to concede an own when defender Amos Simwanza tried to clear a tame ball only to see it ricochet off his head and into his own goal.
Kabylie completed the come back in injury when another defensive mistake saw the pensioners fail to clear their lines for the ball to fall kindly to the striker who finished off for their second.
The result is a blow for the competition debutants who remain at the bottom of the table with one point from two games.
