Bornwell Mwape shoots Amazulu into Nedbank Cup

Bornwell Mwape fired Amazulu into the next round of the Nedbank Cup of Tuesday when he scored the opener in his team’s 4 – 1 win over Thanda Royal Zulu.

Mwape was named in the starting line-up and the Amazulu top scorer did not waste time as he blasted in a right footed shot from close range after benefiting from a Tshepo Liphoko cross on the right wing in the third minute.

The score was 2 – 1 at half time but Amazulu added two more goals to win by a comfortable margin.

Mwape was substituted with two minutes to play.

Allan Mukuka was also named in the starting line-up but was substituted in the 65th minute.

With the win, Amazulu secured one of the eight spots available for NFD teams in the Nedbank Cup.

The eight qualifying sides from the NFD will be joined by eight clubs from SAFA’s lower divisions, and together with the 16 PSL clubs, will form part of the final 32 clubs that participate in the Nedbank Cup proper next year.

  1. Yes, scoring is inevitable but he should replicate the same form to the National team if by any chance he will be selected by people in charge.Meanwhile congratulations Mwana and people are watching you.

  2. I have taken a break from commenting regularly on this site. I however would like to take this opportunity to air my frustrations at how zambia is now performing. From 2013 zambia has failed to get to the group stage of every single caf competiton. Our performance is pathetic to say the least. What we are seeing is a national disaster. Nations like sa are busy qualifying for international competitions. When was the last time zambia went to a word event. We are not going anywhere
