Choma town on Sunday afternoon came to a stand still as the Community turned their attention to witnessing the first ever National League match in the Provincial Capital of Southern Province as debutantes BARTS FC welcomed CITY OF LUSAKA in the opening match of season.
The match which ended in a 1-1 draw has been described as a fair result by Barts FC head coach Satchmo Chakawa.
Chakawa feels the draw is a better result despite believing his team could have won the match and that they had a very good second half.
“Am not happy we drew this game, I think we played well in the second half, in the first half we were slow in the transitions especially transitions to defend,” he said.
“1-1 for me is okay. I think we deserved to win this game, we will take the draw as this is our first game, a draw is better than a loss,” Chakawa added.
Meanwhile his counterpart from LUSAKA CITY assistant coach Bruce Lumai described the draw as a positive result.
“It was a fair game for us traveling all the way from Lusaka to collect a point is a positive result, they [BARTS] are a good side, sadly we didn’t feature our first team due to transfer challenges,” Lumai said.
LUSAKA CITY opened the scoring in the 6th minute through a fine strike from outside the box by Clement Shimonde sending the game into halftime with the lead.
BARTS dominated possession In the second half which saw Captain Emmanuel Shabulungu equalizing late in the second half to end the match 1-1 at the Choma’s independence Stadium.
