Austin Muwowo makes long-awaited Pirates debut

FT: Orlando Pirates 0-0 Golden Arrows

ABSA PREMIERSHIP|2019 Zambian player of the year Austin Muwowo made his debut for the Buccaneers last evening coming on as an 80th-minute substitute for country-mate Augustine Mulenga in Orlando Pirates’ goalless draw at home to Golden Arrows in the week 4 round of matches in the South African 2019/20 Premier Soccer League.

Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on Orlando Pirates now under stand-in coach Rulani Mokwena after the departure of Milutin Sredojevic, with the Buccaneers sitting 10th on the log standing with just 5-points to their name.

Austin Muwowo who showed some flashes of brilliance after coming on, in last night’s match, had missed seven(7) matches for Orlando Pirates in all competition, prior to last night’s match due to paperwork hiccups.

Augustine Mulenga, on the other hand, hand played for the most part of the game but could not do enough to change the scoreline, while Justin Shonga the third Zambian on the buccaneers books missed out this evening reportedly feeling unwell.

Muwowo nearly found the back of the net with a well-taken freekick only for Sibanda to deny him. It was overall a good debut for the former Nkana player despite not having a lot of time on the pitch.

  1. Beautifully taken free kick. And he must be scoring free kicks in training for the senior players to pave way for him to take it.
