Power Dynamos star striker Alex Ngonga has left the country in search of greener pasture in Gabon.
A source close to the Power Dynamos camp has revealed to the ZamFoot Crew that Ngonga has sneaked out of the country at the invitation of Gabonese CAF Confederations Cup representatives CF Mounana.
“It’s not just on social media, but he has gone. It seems his move was not sanctioned by the executive just like what happened last year,” the source stated in confirming the rumors.
Ngonga impressed the West African team which eliminated Power Dynamos from the CAF Confederations Cup race via a 4 – 3 aggregate scoreline which saw Ngonga contribute a goal.
Ngonga in July last year again left the club without official permission only to appear at Mpumalanga Black Aces in South Africa.
He came back after Power threatened Aces.
The 23 year old striker has been the most prolific striker in Zambia this calendar year having scored five goals in all competitions including the Charity Shield.
He was also part of the national team that played Rwanda last month in an international friendly match.

This is what’s wrong with Zambian players. We sit here and blame coaches for not being good enough, but this is a measure of the players ambitions. This guy, one of our top talents is fighting to play professional football in Gabon, I repeat…Gabon. The top player Sunzu is in China. How can you build a national team around this mentality.
I will keep saying it:
1. COACHING: (looks at covering performance gaps that typically coaches do)
2. MENTORING: (looks at career development in this case advise Ngonga on best way to reaching his END IN MIND-well qualified team managers and /or executive members can play this role, or even outsource it by attaching players to mentors, a role us soccer fans can play)
3. COUNSELING: (looks at players personal challenges-experts can come in for correctional steps through empathy)
This is how ng’ onga behaves when all eyes are on him. why didn’t he just go to mighty mufu wandaz than sneaking to Gabon ?
Discipline! The all elusive trademark in most Zambians
In the guy’s defence, who here busy down talking the lad would not seek a bigger pay cheque?? Zambian clubs have all of a sudden started a silly habit of over pricing players with no proven soccer pedigree.
Soccer is too short a career to be meddling around waiting for the big opportunity. A bird in hand is better than two in the bush.
Yes there are procedures and rules that govern how players should go for trials and so forth but at the same time, there is no one defending the players from the fact that these same rules and procedures only favour the clubs and not the players.
He only has in the region of ten years of soccer in him and you want him to get choosy with offers. If Gabon has come calling with the bigger pay cheque and no other offers are there on the table take it my brother. People like to preach about ambition or lack of but they never consider the players situation with food on the table. The guy needs to eat. When called to the national team some fans even call the coach names for including Alex and now the same fans don’t want him to seek the bigger pay cheque. If there are no other offers chase the bigger pay cheque my man.
Steve, I hear you on the paycheck thing, our clubs need to do better. Though, I disagree on the idea that the clubs are the only ones that benefit from the rules and regulations that govern the transfer market. Those things are there to protect employers, just as in the regular world, you can’t have someone under contract simply up and leave unless certain clauses are met. The players themselves are beneficiaries from these transfer rules, they are meant to also guard from players being exploited.
With the way our professional footballers behave, I really wonder how Zambia has avoided the stigma of ‘lost footballers’ in Europe. As Ghana Paradox said below, we need real agents who can help guys like these make smart moves. This grabbing every opportunity has cost players more in the long run examples like Dennis Lota and Mbola.
Word!
The problem might not lie solely with the players but also the agents of these young players. Some of these agents are so “green’ that they are not able or unwilling to market the boys on a higher pedestal . Would u believe some agents don’t even have a solid portfolio on the players they purport to represent? How would any serious scout just come to you by mere word of mouth ? Zambia, indeed most African FAs need to streamline this player -agent relationship . Some agents will just go for a small cut & dump the boys even in Afghanistan in so far as they get their cut. This is a huge problem that needs to be addressed.
Alex needs not go to Gabon. He is fit to play on Europe – Greece, Turkey, Sweden, Israel, Switzerland etc etc where he would even make more money than Gabon & also be exposing himself immediately to bigger fortunes in Europe. May be in Gabon because of a greedy agent who needs a quick cut. These unprofessional agents work high volumes becos of their small cuts to the detriment of these promising talents. OH AFRICA. Wishing Alex the best of luck in term of even moving to a lower division in England, Germany, Italy France etc etc WE CANNOT WASTE SUCH A TALENT
i dont think paradox toment you guys at GSN anymore, so y continue with that name?
Nobody can torment us. We can
be equally stupid if need be. We will be civil if civility prevails. Any way it is an adopted name. Just can’t shake it off.
so true..
This lad Lisaka sana atini and these are the same players we want our national team to be centred on.Honestry, with his talent why Gabon better off second division football in England or France.
With Ngonga this is absolutely foolishness out of all footballing nations just to choose gabon!
