2017 Barclays Cup: Napsa eliminate holders Zesco

Napsa Stars defeated Zesco United 4-2 on post match penalties following a goalless draw in the the first semi final of the 2017 Barclays Cup played at the Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.

With penalties in mind, Zesco United coach Zlatko Krmpotic had replaced first choice goalkeeper Jacob Banda with Burundian Dieudonne Ntibahezwa in the 90th minute but four out of five of Napsa Stars spot kicks still went past him.

Alex Mwamba, Solomon Sakala, Austin Banda and Collins Sikombe were all clinical for Linos Makwaza’s side while it was Dickson Chapa who ballooned his effort.
For Zesco United, it was Jesse Were and David Owino who converted their spot kicks while Fackson Kapumbu and Maybin Kalengo who missed. Misheck Chaila who was the fifth player on the Zesco United list did not even get his chance.

Napsa Stars will play the winner of the second semi final between Zanaco and Lusaka Dynamos.
