Ten man Zambia snatch late draw against Tanzania

Ten man Zambia came from a goal down to snatch a vital point against Tanzania on match day 2 of the African Cup of Nations.

The Taifa Stars led through a Simon Happygod Msuva early strike as Tanzania started life without their coach Adel Amrouche’s eight match ban.

With Tanzania headed for their first ever victory at the African Cup of Nations and major upset, Patson Daka equalised with a bullet header off a Clatous Chama corner to rescue a point for Zambia.

Zambia coach Avram Grant made two changes as first revealed by the ZamFoot Crew earlier on Sunday with Benedict Chepeshi and Lameck Banda coming in for Tandi Mwape and Lubambo Musonda respectively.

Zambia started the match with more purpose and intent compared to the 1-1 draw against DR Congo in the opening fixture.

Frankie Musonda had a steady game

Calamity hit the Chipolopolo when Kelvin Kapumbu gave away possession in midfield and Msuva scored to the Taifa Stars a 1-0 lead.

Zambia captain Rodrick Kabwe was sent off in bizzare circumstances after the referee had deemed the Iraq based defender to have fouled Mbwana Samatta.

This infuriated Grant and the Zambian players in what was perceived as a second bookable offence.

Fashion Sakala again struggled

After the break, Grant reshuffled his side with Lubambo playing as a makeshift right back after coming for the ineffective Kelvin Kapumbu.

Zambia controlled and dominated the second half.

With two minutes to go, Daka leapt high to score a powerful header to the jubilation of the Chipolopolo faithful inside the Laurent Pokou Stadium.

Group F is still wide open following the 1-1 draw between DR Congo and Morocco.
