Copper Princesses midfielder Jessica Choolwe Johnson made her debut for the Carol Kanyemba coached side and says it was a great feeling to step on the pitch.
Johnson was a second half substitute for the Copper Princesses in their 3-0 win over Tanzania in the first leg, second round Morocco 2025 World Cup qualifier.
The Aston Villa Academy player has now set her sights on playing more minutes for the 2024 U17 Women’s COSAFA Champions.
“It felt great honestly, Did not come on for as long as I wanted to but it was great to step on the pitch and play,” she said.
“It was great honestly, we were all hyped up. We know we have to do this for the next game.”
“As an individual I try to build on playing more minutes, as a team we need to be more composed, score more goals and yeah we will win,” she added.
Mercy Chipasula scored a brace while Grace Phiri scored a goal as the Copper Princesses cruised to a comfortable win in the first leg.
The return leg is set for Saturday, 15 March 2025, at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The winner over two legs will advance to the final round of qualifiers, where they will face either Benin or DR Congo for a spot at the global tournament set for 17 October – 8 November in Morocco.
