A brace from the amazing Mercy Chipasula and a goal from Grace Phiri gave the Copper Princesses a comfortable first leg win away in Dar es Salaam.
Zambia started their Morocco 2025 World Cup qualification campaign on a good note as they saw off Tanzania 3-0 on Saturday.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, Grace ‘Pogba’ Phiri opened the scoring in the 64th minute to put the visitors in the driving seat.
Skipper Mercy Chipasula then doubled the lead in the 80th minute to make sure the coach Carol Kanyemba coached outfit were in command of the tie.
Chipasula sealed the win from 12 yards, converting the penalty with ease to help Zambia to a 3-0 win.
The return leg set for Saturday, 15 March 2025, at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The winner over two legs will advance to the final round of qualifiers, where they will face either Benin or DR Congo for a spot at the global tournament set for 17 October – 8 November in Morocco.
