ZSL; Eagles, Atletico, ZANACO, Mutondo and Nchanga Rangers battle for survive as the curtain closes on Super League

The MTN Super League will come to a close this afternoon with only one matter to conclude, the last slot for relegation.

Power Dynamos will be crowned Champions away at Nchanga Stadium this afternoon having already sealed the title while ZESCO United are already confirmed CAF Confederation Cup representatives.

At the bottom of the table, Indeni , Lumwana Radiants and Forest Rangers have already been relegated but one slot remains to complete the four teams that will play National Division One football next season.

Green Eagles are the team that’s in the most difficult situation as they need to beat FC MUZA and hope one of the other teams fighting relegation loses their game.

Atletico Lusaka are just above Eagles and need to win their game away to ZESCO United to stay in the Super League.

Coach Brian Kunsenama believes the boys know the importance of this match and will go to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium with the sole purpose of collecting maximum points.

“It’s always been in our hands, we don’t have to depend on anyone else. It’s a game we need to go and collect maximum points no matter how difficult the situation might look, we have no choice. So we will go there and  give it our best,” he said.

“From Monday the boys have been showing that they are looking forward to this game because they know that for us to still stay in the premier league we need the three points. I can see the mood is right, the morale is okay and mentally they look strong, so we are ready for this.”

ZANACO are also not safe from relegation as they need a win against Red Arrows to be safe.

The match will see long serving goalkeeper Racha Kola play close the curtain on his 22 year career with the Bankers as he hangs his gloves after this match while it is also the last time James Chamanga will play a professional league match as he also walks away after an illustrious 25 year career.

Mutondo Stars are away to NAPSA Stars and could survive with just a draw or might not even need that should any of the team’s below them suffer defeat.

Nchanga Rangers are the safest of the five teams as they just need a draw to survive and their relegation would need four other results to go against them which is highly unlikely but still mathematically possible.

Elsewhere, Power Dynamos will be crowned Champions after their match against Nchanga Rangers.

Nkana and Kabwe Warriors square off at Chilata while Nkwazi welcome demoted Lumwana Radiants.

Relegated Indeni welcome fellow relegated side Forest Rangers at the Cage.
