Burkinabe forward, Sogne Yacouba has been a free agent for two weeks now and Zesco United is among the teams chasing his signature.
The former Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou player and the Ndola based outfit have been linked for close to a year now.
Last year in April, Asante Kotoko confirmed that they opened negotiations with the Zambian top club over the sale of Yacouba and Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Gyamfi.
“We have agreed to open negotiations with Zesco United for players, Yacouba Songné and Emmanuel Gyamfi,” Kotoko posted on twitter on 9th April 2019.
Yacouba and Gyamfi were impressive for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
A source from the club told the ZamFoot Crew that the deal broke down because the price tag was too high.
“He was initially engaged by the previous administration but the price tag was too high,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Yacouba recently told Kick-off.com that a decision will only be made after the Coronavirus epidemic.
“After the [COVID-19] epidemic we will see the rest, but nothing is prevented for the moment,” Yacouba said.
I have an agent. After the epidemic, I will see the situation in the clubs where I could play
Zesco is currently in the driving seat to land the 28-year-old attacker but his troubles may not be worth it.
The Burkinabe Internation was constantly warned of persistent misconduct by Asante Kotoko during his time at the club.
The player apologized to the management of the club for his behavior and stated that he was ready to extend his contract should the porcupines show such interest but later on reneged on the promise.
The Manager of the forward, Jesse Jantuah earlier today revealed that his client told him he doesn’t stay at a club after two years.
“With the French players, you can’t take decisions alone as a manager. When you are making a decision, the player is involved, the father is involved and also maybe the wife. At times some of the friends,” Jantuah said in an interview with Nhyira FM.
“You know I am a Kotoko supporter and I will love for Yacouba to play but he has told me that it is his policy that he doesn’t play for a club more than two years and at times you don’t stay in one country for more than two years, so he wants to move on,” he added.
Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC nearly landed the Burkinabe forward but however, his high demands could not be met by the Tarkwa-based side.
