A Provincial Select Side in Eastern Province battled it out with 2020/2021 Superleague Champions Zesco United in a one-all draw and it was Annapy Phiri, Smiling kids attacking Midfielder who got the select’s goal-scoring a penalty, sending Kenyan international Goalkeeper Otieno in the wrong direction.
Gift Sam Banda who is nicknamed Walter Bwalya won the penalty after he was brought down by Otieno in the 18-yard area.
It was a good and entertaining game as Zesco United was denied five clear chances by Smiling kids goalkeeper Timothy Banda who was the ZamFoot Crew’s man of the match as he was equal to task saving clear chances from Enock Sakala Jr and Jese Jackson Were.
Zesco United scored their goal through one of the Imena Golden Stars’ strikers in Dryson Phiri who they used in the second half of the game and it’s confirmed that Zesco United have gone back with two Imena Golden Stars strikers in Dryson Phiri and Mathias Lungu who had impressed the Numba Mumamba led technical bench.
Zesco United is reported to be in negotiations for the two strikers with Imena Golden Stars.
Superleague Champions Zesco United played four Friendlies in Chipata first game they played against Zesco Chipata and they won by two goals to one, Second game they played against Panza FC where they drew 0-0, The third game they played Imena Golden Stars and lost by three goals to one and the last game they played Provincial select side with a one-all draw as a result.
Zesco United had a good preseason training in Chipata and the ZamFoot Crew can reveal that they have identified another two defenders from their feeder club Zesco Chipata, Cornelius Ngulube, and Danny Chaponda who are likely to join the senior team.
Zega Mambo was given a good game by the Provincial select side with the excellency from the technical bench of Coach Raphael Dumbo from Sinda United, Coach George Bauchi from Smiling, and Coach Key Kangwa Bwalya from Malambo United, all the players who had an opportunity to play showed their character.
Appreciation should also go to the Eastern Province FAZ Exco for the job done doing their part in the organization of the games.
The nine-time Champions ended their 10-day preseason camp in Chipata, Eastern Province. The 35-member squad left Chipata this morning and is expected to be in Ndola later today.
Numba Mumamba coached outfit is expected in action on 21st August in the Zambian football season curtain-raiser, The Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu against ABSA Cup champions, Lusaka Dynamos.
