Zesco out to complete Swallows job

Swazi club Mbabane Swallows arrived in the country on Friday afternoon for the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg tie against Zesco United to be played in Ndola.

Swallows who held Zesco 1 – 1 from the first leg arrived at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport at 1210hrs.

They have in the last two editions been eliminated at this stage by Zambia sides Zanaco and Nkana who beat them 3 – 2 (2013) and 5 – 4 (2014) on aggregate respectively.

The George Lwandamina coached Zesco is expected to continue from where the two ended in the dominance of the Swazis and will look to build on the away goal they scored.

Swallows coach Siyabonga however remains confident ahead of the game.

“Zambian clubs have always given us problems. I hope this time they [Zesco] will be in for a surprise. We play well away and this gives us confidence ahead of Saturday’s game.

“We have big ambitions. We are looking beyond this game. There is so much placed on us, so they [Zesco] should not expect a walkover. I know it will be tough but we have made efforts to ensure that everything is in place,” said Bhembe

The match will kick off at 15:00hours.

  1. Zesco should have finished the qualification right in Swaziland by recording a win there. Yes Zesco might qualify to the next stage but I doubt if they will go far as they meet tough opposition from the North. Especially with this poor away record by Zambian clubs.
