Zesco eye maximum points against Young Green Eagles but Numba wary of their threat

After winning promotion to the Super League Young Green Eagles could have been dreaming of Big weekends like this, playing Ndola Giants Zesco United and it’s a shame fan will not be able to watch special games like this one.

Zesco United head coach Numba Mumamba is aware of the threat the newly promoted side pose as he has been monitoring their steady progress and expects a tough match

“Firstly this is a very important game to us we are playing A very determined side in the name of Young Green Eagles I think this is a tricky game, looking at the way this team has been performing since the season started but looking at how the team has been responding in training. I think we have the team that we need. For this game, we need a win because this will put us in a better position to challenge for the title looking at how tight the league has been this season. I think we should fight hard in Kafue so that we go back with the three points,” he said.

Zesco United was without several key players like Bruce Musakanya, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, and Clement Mwape who were out with the National team at CHAN but they are now back and ready to go. Numba has declared the players from CHAN ready for action.

“I think there are very much ready and fit I think looking at the few hours that we have trained with them there are very positive and determined and we hope they give us their best so that we can carry the day,” he said.

“Of course we are playing a team that people in football circles say that there is a miner team but for us, we have told the team that we have to work on the pitch for us to get the desired three points because in football there are no under Dogs. Nowadays you have to work on the pitch we don’t want, what happened to us against Nkwazi to repeat itself in this game. All we need is to go there with a positive attitude so that at the end of it we get the three points.”

Numba went on to give an update on injuries in his team ahead of this afternoon’s clash.

“I think for those players that have come from injuries there are responding well and catching up with the other guys I think looking at the way Tafadzwa is playing I think very soon he will be 100 percent and these are players that we can rely on in our title chase we are very happy that everyone is fit and it is good for the team and us coaches this Is what we expect for a team like us because the competition is there, the young ones are giving competition to the senior players which is a very positive sign for a team.

“If everyone can continue working the way there are working I think it will be even difficult for us to come up with the 18 man Squad that we expect to have in every game, so far we have maintained the team that played Lusaka Dynamos we have just included the three players that came from Cameron the only player who’s not in the team is Bruce Musakanya, who’s still nursing an injury and we hope he comes back to the team but the other three guys that have joined us are very much okay and ready to work for the team.”

Mumamba is expected to hand Toaster Nsabata his full debut as Ian Otieno is suspended.

“This is an opportunity for him (Nsabata) to man the Goalpost I think he’s a player that has the experience his a player that we can rely on even if our first coach is not with us due to the Red card but I think Toaster is also equal to the task, all he needs is to just have the confidence.”

Zesco United will go head to head with Young Green Eagles at Khosa Stadium in Kafue.
