Zesco condemn Nakambala to division one as they go second

Zesco United on Wednesday afternoon condemned Nakambala Leopards to division one as they trounced on the Mazabuka to leap into second position on the log.

Idriss Mbombo scored a brace while David Odhiambo netted the opener with Clatous Chama scoring the oher goal.

Nakambala needed to win by a five goal margin to stay in the top flight but back to back losses to the champions in four days sees them fail to beat relegation.

The sugar boys lost 1 – 0 in the reverse fixture played on Sunday after conceding goal via an Ayo Oluwafemi free kick.

With one game to play before the close of the season Zesco now have destiny in their hands in the race for a place in Africa.

Zesco are now on 69 points two ahead of Nkana.

The champions play away against Lumwana Radiants on the final day while Nkana will play away against Forest Rangers.
