Zanaco’s Peter Banda to start while Musonda is a doubt for Al Ahly clash

Zanaco defender Peter Banda is expected to start on Saturday against Al Ahly as skipper Ziyo Tembo is suspended.

The young defender started his first game of the season on Sunday in the 2-0 over Kabwe Warriors as coach Numba Mumamba gave him the much needed confidence ahead of the big tie against the Egyptian giants.

Zambia Under-20 midfielder Boyd Musonda is rated 50/50 after an ankle injury he picked up in that ill tempered game against Warriors.

They will be facing a Zanaco which has gone 12 games unbeaten in all competitions.

While Zanaco snatched a late goal in Cameroon against Coton Sport on match day 4, the Cairo side suffered a defeat in Morocco to Wydad Athletic Club.

Zanaco will be without Ziyo Tembo after he accumulated two yellow cards.

Augustine Mulenga and Chongo Chirwa who were sent off on Sunday in a league against Kabwe Warriors are both expected to start.

A draw will be enough for Zanaco to advance to the quarter finals.

  1. A draw will not be enough as there still two games to go. Only a win will guarantee qualification to next round, irrespective of the result in the final games. Just try to do all possible permutations ba Zamfoot and you will see what I am talking about.

  2. These guys have surpassed my expectations. I didn’t give them even a slight chance of winning any game in this group wen they started. Seeing them in this group of potential champions and seeing them where they are now in the standings, they are potential evential champions. All the best for the coming crutial game.
