Al-Hilal Obied not yet suspended in continental championship

The Sudanese Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have until tomorrow 30th June, 2017 to smoke the peace pipe and put aside their ongoing wrangles so as to escape a ban from FIFA.

Should the white smoke fails to emerge from the Sudan FA football house, then FIFA will crack a whip and the entere nation will be suspended in international football.

This means, clubs from Sudan including Zesco United’s group stages opponents, Al Hilal Obied will be suspended.

An official at Council of East Cental Africa Football Association (CECAFA), Amir Hussein from Somalia, told Zamfoot Crew that, FIFA has zero tolerance of government meddling in football matters.

Hussein who also serves as CAF matches commissioner said, if the Sudanese FA is suspended, then thier clubs won’t be able to participate in any FIFA sanctioned tournament.

“Yes, if they are suspended then their teams will be eliminated from the tournament and all points will be cancelled,” said Amir.

Meanwhile, CAF Spokesman, Junior Binyam has confirmed that the African football governing body is yet to receive any direction from FIFA in regards to suspend clubs from Sudan in continental championships.

“I have not received any decision in that regard. I think a dateline was given to sudan and we are waiting on that,” said Binyam.

The wrangle between the Sudanese Government and the FA started when the Presidential polls,  which was supposedly postponed by FIFA went ahead with the General Abdel rahman sir Al Katim ousting the incumbent Dr Muttasim Gaafar [Also Cecafa President].

However, Muttasim cried foul, that the elections were null and as FIFA had postponed them to later this year.

General Al Katim, with the blessing of the Ministry of Sports proclaimed himself as the eligible President of the Sudanese FA and threw out the Muttasim led executive. This has compelled FIFA to send a warning, which if not adhered the whip will be cracked.
