ZamFoot Crew Ratings – Algeria 5-0 Zambia

The Zambia national team was on Thursday handed a humiliating 5-0 bashing by Algeria away in Blida. It was one of the heaviest defeats the Copper Bullets have faced in the recent past.

The ZamFoot Crew now gives their ratings for the players and the technical bench.

1. Toaster Nsabata 2/10 – Awful day at the office. He could have been helped by the defense. He did well to keep out a Mahrez effort for a corner that led to the first goal.

2. Kabaso Chongo 1/10 – The skipper was out place at the right back. He was chasing his marker on most occasions and his poor timing saw him conceding the penalty. He gave Balaili too much space for the second goal and was at fault for the fourth as well.

3. Lawrence Chungu 4/10 – Had a tough time keeping an eye on Mahrez. He did a fantastic job and even when beaten he was throwing in everything to recover. He did nothing to aid the attack

4. Stopilla Sunzu 3/10 – Seemed to sense danger quickly and was picking the loose balls. For all his experience he failed to provide leadership at the back.

5. Thandi Mwape 3/10 – He and Sunzu were shaky and he allowed to much space for Algerian strikers and they easily cut through the Zambian central defense.

6. Nathan Sinkala 6/10 – Good discipline to hold his position and provide a screen for the defenders. Showed a good range is passing and was starting to play from deep.

7. Clatous Chama 3/10 – He should have been the architect of Zambia’s forward moves but spent more time chasing back and when he had the ball, his pass was a little heavy

8. Salulani Phiri 4/10 – He was combining well with Sinkala to thwart the Algerians’ movements in the middle of the park. Failed to track his man for the first goal from a corner

9. Justin Shonga 2/10 – Only one effort which was off target in 90 minutes.

10. Evans Kangwa 4/10 – Not convincing but looked lively towards the end playing wide on the left.

11. Augustine Mulenga 3/10 – Lacked composure. He was always second best to his marker

Mwape Musonda: Did not have enough time to be rated.

Aggrey Chiyangi 1/10
Good game plan putting two holding midfielders and it seemed to be holding well till the second half. Only the front four were failing to tick. Why he decided to change tactics when he removed Clatous Chama for out and out striker Mwape Musonda instead of just changing personnel and keeping the shape is difficult to understand. It was clear when he picked the team that he was short of full-backs and Chipolopolo paid heavily with a makeshift right-back in Kabaso Chongo. He has moved from having the longest unbeaten run after appointment as Chipolopolo coach to presiding over one of the worst defeats for the national team.

  1. It has never happened in zambian history, that’s not football it’s netball ,if I was a faz president I would have resigned. mr or what ever you call yourself please resign don’t waste tax payers money.

    • I have watched with sadness to witness Chipolopolo lose like they did. FAZ president, FAZ president. When will you ever deliver? Is that the best about you?I am not saying you should play, no. But provide leadership and that Zambian culture of winning. Where are you? Zambia has never been this worse. Never. You must do a right thing. True you must resign.
