The Zambia U18 Girls beat Thailand 3-1 on Sunday morning to end their UEFA Friendship Cup group stage campaign with a win.
Lweendo Hanongo put Zambia in the lead in the 36th minute with a beautiful header after a well taken corner kick.
Zambia were wasteful for the majority of the game with a lot of chances going begging in a match they dominated.
Ruth Muwowo doubled the lead in the 76th minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake.
Theresa Nayame needed barely 30 seconds to score Zambia’s third goal, the best strike of the morning.
Pinyaphat Klinklai pulled one back for Thailand in the dying minutes with a close range header.
The young Copper Queens put up an impressive run in the group stage, winning two matches and drawing one to finish second in Group A on seven points, level with Colombia but edged out on penalty shootout results.
