Zambia U17 to leave for AFCON next week

The Zambia U17 national soccer team will leave for the 2015 U17 Africa Cup of Nations next week.

According to information obtained by the ZamFoot Crew, the Chris Kaunda coached lads are expected to arrive in Niger on Wednesday 11th February ahead of the tournament that will run from 15 February to 1 March, 2015.

Coach Kaunda will name his final 23 man squad tomorrow (Friday) ahead of the team’s departure for Niamey, Niger.

The team has only played one competitive friendly against South Africa which they drew 1 – 1.

The U17 will be aiming for a semi-final berth to book a place at the Chile FIFA World Cup finals. The U20 on the other hand have been grouped with fellow Cosafa representatives South Africa and will have to overcome a challenge from Ghana and Mali for a place in the semi-finals which will guarantee a place at the New Zealand finals later in the year.

Niger U17 Tournament:

Group A: Niger, Nigeria, Guinea, Zambia

Group B: Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa, Mali, Cameroon

  1. These boys excite me. This team is very cable of winning the championship. I have said this before and i will say it again that this is the most prolific under 17 team that we have ever had in 50 years!

    • @JOHN, PATSON DAKA is one of the most prolific strikers that we have ever produced at under 17 level. He must be in Europe for sure!
