Zambia has climbed one place up on the latest FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings released in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday.
The Chipolopolo Boys are now ranked 74th and 15th in the World and on the Continent respectively.
In June, Zambia had its worst ever ranking after 99th position in the World but fortunately the Southern Africa powerhouse recorded back to back wins over Algeria in the World Cup qualifiers as well as unbeaten run in the CHAN qualifiers saw them rise.
Opposition Watch
Morocco 2018 CHAN opponents Ivory Coast are the best ranked team in Group B on 61st while Uganda is just a place below Zambia.
Namibia are ranked 118.
Namibia and Zambia are also in the same Group (K), alongside Guinea Bissau and Mozambique for the Cameroon 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The West African are ranked 86 while the Black Mambas are 110th.
A good showing at the CHAN tournament will see Zambia break into the top 10 bracket on the Continent.
Meanwhile Zambia is the top ranked side in Southern Africa.

Merry Christmas to fellow Zamfooters!!!
@GSK11 thank you very much and complements of the season to you too.
I use to brash off the ranking but now have started seeing sense in the rankings and I assume Algeria lost because Zambia hummered them home and away. All best to mother Zambia.
thank you, kudos to Zambia
The highest Fifa ranking Zambia received if not mistaken was No 19 on the world ranking in the early 90s.
Still the No 74 not pleasing at all.
I believe Zambia has an abundance talent to expose to the world & rise the ladder.
Highest FIFA ranking for Zambia is 15 in the world attained in August 1996 and lowest 104 in 2011
