Zambia creeps into second position after Mozambique lose in Cape Verde

Zambia’s group opponents in the Morocco 2015 qualifiers Cape Verde beat visiting Mozambique 1 – 0 to move to nine points on the log, while the defeat condemned Mozambique to third position as they were overtaken by Zambia on goal difference.

Zambia’s the results on match-day four will be seen by many as going Zambia’s way as the Chipolopolo who seemed out of contention after the draw in Niger now have destiny in their own hands.

Zambia could complete their qualification in Mozambique if they win as the head to head rule will count in an event that two teams finish level on points.

A loss on the other hand will see Zambia bow out of the competition.

A new look Zambia national team side which had four changes from the previous game was too good for Niger as they ran away with a 3 – 0 at home.

  1. Yeah that was awesome , please Chamanga , Jacob and probably Mayuka should not close to the team, Chongo Kabaso as well . We have a team and Mr Janza please advise the lads to stop playing aerial balls

  2. The Daily Mail are reporting that Niger protested against the fielding of Sunzu before the game…..Please enlighten us ba Zamfoot. …was Sunzu properly registered? We risk losing Board Room points….

  3. We should fill the stadium, and give support to our Chipolopolo team. Thanks to the chipolopolo fans who turn up in there numbers to cheer for our team. Our new chipolopolo young stars we should nature and motivated them to a player we went them to become.

  4. Most of you guys panic too much zambia is an african powerhouse. Janza is still trying different combinations looking for his winning 11. Mayuka will eventually cement himself as Zambia’s number 1 striker. Zambia is qualifying for this afcon dont doubt that.

  5. Others who should follow Katongo are Chamanga and J. Mulenga. And after they leave our team, for goodness sake, dont start recalling players like Mbesuma. All these players, we say thank you for the services you rendered to mother Zambia but now its time for others to soldier on

  6. @Soccerguru, That issue was resolved before kickoff, that’s why the game was bit delayed, signing was done from both teams, and all our players had player Cards Registration done by officials signed by both captains.keep it cool

  7. The saving grace in the match against Mozambique will be that Mozambique has to play for the win aswell, they will have to try and play.

One good feature from the match was the quality of the delivery from corners in the second half, its been along time since we have seen good delivery on corners. So well done to Chisamba Lungu and in parts Rainford.

Our most effective striker was Given, the most useful play we have seen from a striker since Chris and Mayuka in 2012. Its good exiled Freedom has come to roost. He is providing quality. Good to see Mauka get on the score sheet thanks to him.

We must be ready and focused for the tactical showdown with Mozambique, we should play a tight game and bring our extra in the bag.

  8. The baby was crying loud here that Zambia won’t qualify. Can we realy fail to beat Mozambique in Maputo and qualify b4 the last game against Cape Verd? Oh crying baby, will u be vindicated?

  9. Lets change the nick name of our mens team from Chipolopolo to ‘Hepolopolo’ to go suit with our womens team name of ‘Shepolopolo’.
    just a suggestion.

    • Shepolopolo is being advocated by the media, it is not the official name of the ladies football team. In fact it does not even make sense because Chipolopolo simply means Bullet and there is nothing like a ‘She” bullet… useless.

  10. Zambia’s performance away from home has been very dodgy. I don’t see the team winning in Mozambique with a PATHEIC and USELESS coach like Janza. It will be almost impossible to win in Maputo. Truth be told! The best result we can get from there is a draw. I was going to be sure of a win if we had a tactician of a coach like Bonetti. Janza is inept and has no proven track record and pedigree!

  11. Janza is not the right man to take us to the promised land. We are DOOMED with him as coach. We struggled to break down a very weak Niger team last night.

  12. Friends JANZA cant beat Mozambique in Maputo neither can he beat CABO VADE here much as yesterdays resuilt was fantastic LETS NOT FORGET WE PLAYED A VERY BAD SIDE I mean even if we removed MWEENE from the goal those guys cant score trust me they cant

  13. This match was a reminder of the possibilities of what Zambia can do but Zambia is still very much under threat…

Chris should be brought back to play a supporting role. There should be no place for Chamaga and Janza should stop forcing the youngster Zulu in the starting line up.

  14. Since Cape Verde is already through, the Mozamb – Zambia game is the most important one for Chipolopolo. Manage at least a draw.

    All the best though

  15. Algeria and Cape Verde already through. Two teams that were not even seeded.

Some People are calling for CAF Rankings to be used for World Cup qualifiers. There were 7 seeded teams but 5 of them are still struggling (Nigeria, Mali, Zambia, Burkina Faso, IvoryCoast). Obviously some of them will battle till the last minute of the last game and will fail to top their group.

  16. If Niger beats Cape verd and Zambia draw with Mozambique on 14 Nov, then In the last games on 19th Nov Zambia beats Cape V by 1-0 & Mozambique wins in Niger, it means Zambia, Moz & Cape V will all be on 9 points.
So going by the away goals rule, Zambia and Moz will top Cape V but all three teams may qualify as there shall be a best third finisher to make a total of 15 teams who will join Morocco.
Neverthless, 2015 afcon will be useless due to Ebola threats among west african teams.

    • My brother Mumbi, CapeVerde is already through. They managed to collect 6 points against Zambia and Mozamb. So even if CapeV lose the remaining games, they will still be second in the group

  17. Zambia will straight away qualify if a win is recorded in Maputo. This is on head to head rule. Even if we lose last game and Mozambique wins to level on points, head to head will count for Zambia.

so we should not even talk of a draw in Maputo but a win of any margin. Even if it means firing Janza for us to win let it be!

That match is very very important for us!

  18. Mbique is not as strong as teams like Congo DR that I saw demolishi CIV and Renard yesterday! The current Zambia team now called “Chikolopelo” is far from convincing tactically!

  19. It was just a relief to finally get a win after so many draws. It gives the coach a chance to concentrate on the next game and i hope he will be able to fit the bill. Qualification is in our hands and we should concentrate on the next game and get it right. Atleast it gives the team renewed confidence and hope. All the best.

  20. RENARD IS JUST AN AVERAGE COACH when we used to tell Zambians that they thought we hated him now you can all see for yourselves everywhere he goes he fails is it Zambia,Sochaux and now Ivory coast.Ivorians we told you you should have listened

  21. After watching the last 4 Afcon qualifiers, I am convinced that Chisamba Lungu needs talking to. He is one player who could have caused a difference in the games we lost or drew. Chisamba has speed, the dribble and even the stamina, but he lacks the incision, and a killer shot. He should start using his speed and dribble to blaze through the middle of the penalty area, simply because defenders will always be afraid of committing penalties, so they will start escorting him goalwards. He should also start using the medicine ball so that he develops the shot that is lacking in his feet.
I am very convinced that he was the one player who would have made a difference in the other games we drew or lost. He has the form to change and start winning games for Zambia. Good as he is I actually don’t remember him scoring a goal for the Chipolopolo in open play.

  22. @ pulu we said it here renard is pathetic. I have always known. Ivory coast is now an average team they are not going anywhere with pathetic renard.

  23. @soccerguru, the Nigeriens are saying they will lodge a complaint to CAF on the fact that Sunzu was not eligible to play for zambia since he was a Congolese and not a Zambian. That is when the team manager produced some passports to show the match commissioner, Niger officials e.t.c

  24. Kay hummer my guy why shud we hire keshi who was fired in nigeria? We should learn be patient n supportive of our own? 2wins 2draws n 1. Frm 5 games 40% give him space u jst can’t stop complaining n at least he is stood his ground on discpline that wat we need, for now we give him chance

  25. Janza is doing a good job. He will qualify Zambia to the afcon im in full support of Janza. Keshi doesnt know anything about Zambia. Janza knows all the players. With more friendlies and games Janza will have his starting 11. He has been trying different combinations but slowly and surely he will have a solid 11. Mayuka will cement himself as Zambia’s number 1 striker very soon. Sate sate and Evans Kangwa will demote Jacob Mulenga and Chamanga.

  26. when was the last time zambia won a match away from home?
those who have been teaching from the history books should tell when that happened.

zambia is not going to win in Maputo……….based on the current team strength, logistics and others.

  27. Those Nigeriens were ill-advised..They thought they’d catch Zambia on Sunzu in the same way Rwanda was recently caught by Congo Brazzaville using a Vita Club player with duo nationality and 2 different names (Rwanda/DRC).

  28. Janza can’t read the game, this is the biggest signal that he ain’t a good coach. Bring Keshi,if he fails then fire him. For how long will Janza experiment his unfruitful combinations ? The team has no system. We can say we don’t have strikers but the mid fielders can’t make clear chances either. There is no co-odination between mid fielders and strikers. A coach has to work on that!!!

  29. surely our midfield is nt vry
good we need a box to box man, our strickers are nt scoring bcoz of our mid. janza next
game call lubambo & kangwa we are going to need those two young man
