Zamalek reach final agreement with Mayuka

Emmanuel Mayuka is on the verge of completing a move to Egyptian giants Zamalek from French Ligue 2 side Metz after the club reached a final agreement with the player on Thursday.

The 25 year old striker has penned down a three year deal with the North African giants.

Zamalek have stated that they tried to sign Mayuka in 2008 but were beaten by Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv. He also played for Young Boys of Switzerland, Southampton in the English premier league before moving to Metz.

Mayuka played 10 league games with a return of 2 goals.

Zamalek are looking to strengthen their frontline as team striker Bassem Morsi is yet to regain his form, failing to score any goal this season.

Mayuka will be Zamalek’s third new-signing in this winter transfer window after the signing of Ittihad of Alexandria fullback Ramzi Khaled and the return of Mahmoud ‘Shikabala’ Abdel-Razek.

He is expected in Cairo next week.

He joins former Red Arrows forward Patrick Ngoma in the Egyptian league. Ngoma plays for Al Ittihad.

    • Ekupwa kwine uku… Zambia will never have football professionals the likes of Kalusha in Europe these chaps are all rif ruffs who fails dismally to make it in Europe, look at Chris Katongo, Mayuka, Isaac Chansa, Sunzu, its either they go to India, China, Afghanstan, Angola, Egypt, Israel thats it… even South Africa Premier is better…. yes some of you you might go no Zamalek is good, please save us with that crap, Mayuka has expired just after the 2012 AFCON cup this team went into another metamorphosis phase from caterpillars to pupae and never made it out of their cocoons! – dead.

  1. We are doomed. Our football is totally finished. Now we are even fighting to perform in cheap tournaments like chan. As far as I’m concerned chan is as good as cosafa. We failed where it mattered at under 23 where we could have gone to the olympics. We failed at afcon and under 17 and 20. Now even our professionals have failed in europe. Very sad reading indeed. We are truly finished. A forgotten force.

    • You are the same people promoting mediocrity in Zambian football, give me only 3 reasons with a diagram why you think this is a good move?

      • Diagram? This is soccer not science. Only two reasons are required:

        1. Fitness; no longer a bench warmer

        2. Competition; when was the last time Zambia beat an Egyptian club or national team?

  2. Zamalek is a good team.At least he will get more playing time.Hv u forgotten Egypt won Afcon when majority of their players were playing for Al haly and Zamalek

  3. LEICESTER LAUNCH AMARTEY BID
Leicester City are in negotiations to sign Daniel Amartey from FC Copenhagen after making a bid for the Ghana international, the Danish club have confirmed.
Media reports announced Leicester, who are second in the Premier League behind Arsenal on goal difference, have offered around £6m for the 21-year-old midfielder.
“There are rumours today in the market that FC Copenhagen is planning to sell the football player Daniel Amartey to English club Leicester City,” FC Copenhagen said in a statement on Thursday
“FC Copenhagen can confirm that it has received an offer for Daniel Amartey from Leicester City. Negotiations between the parties are ongoing.”
Born in Ghana, Amartey was scouted by current Estonia national team coach Magnus Pehrsson, who signed him for Swedish club Djurgarden in 2013.

After a successful spell with Djurgarden, Amartey joined FC Copenhagen in July 2014.
He was also part of the Ghana squad that were runners-up at the 2015 African Cup of Nations, losing the final to Ivory Coast after a penalty shoot-out

@ Paradox, this time it will be different. The team had adquate preparations and will be in Rwanda 2moro. So they have time to acclimatize and shape up well b4 they take on Zim on 19th. We shall reach the finals and probably lift the cup as the local BS supporters will be wathing on their usual 12 inch Black/white tvs

they will prepare Fufu & eat while watching on their Tvs

u c hw MUGUS u two are?today this isn’t Ghanasoccernet for JJ to comment on the exploits of a ghananian player yet u shittly dared to cast innuendos on BS supporters on a zambian site,if u like appear on GSN where u wud be reduced to chicken shits.

  4. What’s this, Mayuka? Drogba, Yaya Toure…must be now wondering what could have happened to them in 2012 to lose to a bunch of players who are turning out to be unfit for lowly L1 and L2 teams in France. Sunzu has become a vagabond, Sinkala quietly returned to TP after 2 short stints in France and Switzertland.

    • True. I thought about that as well. As we don’t have good players, we need to monitor those european players with Zambian blood.

    • Mayuka has now reached what we call in calculus dy/dt=0, where y is form and t is time.
At 25, there is still time for him to pull a surprise comeback though. But in Egypt, he needs to have a strong mental strength. These Arabic guys are not good. If he is not strong, they will finish him completely. He needs to pick up form and return to Europe again.

  5. Personally didn’t see this move coming.AS Mayuka was just starting to holdup at regular starting place at Metz. Well I have hope that his agent managed getting a better role in the team this time, maybe first team “crucial player”.All the best to Mayuka!!

  6. Maybe this is just the level of our players as such we should just accept. Kalaba one of our best players plays for TP Mazembe. My view is that Mayuka is just not good enough, not as we thought as such I see him failing even in Egypt. No doubt he was a promising player, but since leaving Young Boys everything has just gone wrong

There are just too many Zambian players that have of late been so disappointing. Only Kalu and Charly Cool Musonda could manage, but the 2 were on another level, very high level for that matter, the rest have been failures and the list is endless

We should just accept that at the moment we do not have any player that can play in the EPL, Italian League, Germany, Spain and France. In short our players are average and do not Work hard, expecting God to help them. God helps those that help themselves, remember this

Just a look at the performances of the U/17/20/23 and the Clubs in international games speaks volumes. The earlier we accept that we are crap as far as soccer is concern the better.

Hate me if you want the fact is that our football is now dead and buried

  7. The Next news will be that of Sunzu going back to China after his loan deal is over. The dude only plays in cup games and is always on the bench in League games and that tells the story

  8. The truth is that Zambian football is no longer the same. The standard has dropped. Remember the signs of it that I drew your attention to some time back. I can still do the same. Some of them include the following : A Zambian top side and flag bearer in the CAF games eliminated at the hand of a Botswana side( It happened when Rollers sent Zesco packing), Zambian players failing to command first team lineup in neighbouring countries ( Botswana , S.A…..this was unheard of….. A Zambian player of the yester years played in almost all games his side played in Botswana, save for situations brought about by suspensions, health and family commitments : examples Dick Chama, Lungson Phiri(aka Phiri phamola and referred to together with countryman in Messhack Mwanza as ‘dipoko tsa TASC / ghosts of TASC FC), Phillimon Chisala( aka Nduna), Meshack Mwanza, Temba Lunga,Francis Chisenga,Joseph Chikoti, Aaron Mumba aka Kwasakwasa, ……….I can’t preempt the list..These guys showed amazing quality in football that despite the time difference from the last time they played here we still remember vividly how they set alight our then Super League.

Another indicator to the nosedive that the Zambian game is headed to is how opponent countries seem to be snatching results from the once feared Chipolopolo. It started with S.A. Zimbabwe and Namibia have joined.Let alone some minnows from other regions of Africa. I need not to mention the minnows.

Last but not least the score margins, possessional and skill displays that the Zambians used to be known of have been a thing of the past for too long. When is the last time a Zambian side put five goals past their opponents? Of late one is never confident in predicting the outcome of a game involving a Zambian side and any other team. These are the signs my dear neighbors.

Notwithstanding all the bad things that have dented the Zambian game I believe that Zambia is just sleeping for now. The giant will get back to its feet one day. However, deliberate interventions are the only way out of the slumber.Admitting that the current situation depicts a bad standard of the game could be the cradle of awakening the giant. I want to categorically mention it here that the downward spiral of the Zambian game has nothing do with Kalusha being at the helm of FAZ. It started way back when Kalusha himself was enjoying his football.

  9. This simply means that Metz were not impressed by him. This is a spectacular fall. Even in the Egyptian league he will not succeed. This guy has psychological issues that need sorting because he is talented.

  10. The problem is we do not have focus. HR would push these players to belieave and they would achieave. No one is doing that now.

It is not even a matter of where one plays, it is a matter of form and consistency. You can play for TP Mazembe but you must keep good form and consistency. At least Rainford is doing that and for me i think his career has been a success after a stutery start he has found a home at Mazembe. That is all you can ask for not expectation of elite European leagues. Even HR cant hold those jobs down. Elite European leagues that is gift itself but so is finding a happy home and consistent career. Because that is also when Zambia can achieave like Egypts local players did for their country.

    • Mayuka has potential as he has shone. No club since is yet to get that potential out of him. So now he has little confidence/belief and i can imagine he wants a happy home. Zamalek is difficult move again.

  11. if he was coming from zambia or the usless psl i would say its a gud move. but hes coming fron europe with a stint in the epl. i hav always said mayuka is an average player. anyway he is 30 let him just expire peacefully before he comes to warm the bench in the zpl

  12. Mr justice! I agree with you 100%. There is no soccer to talk of in Zambia. We must not even cheat ourselves that we are a soccer giant on the continent when we can’t even have one player playing regularly in a recognized league in Europe. Mind you and I didn’t say in a big league but ‘recognized’ league. Mayuka will fail again in Egypt, he is expired. Let’s forget about him. Our boys are too playful. When they get a few dollars they think they have made it. They simply have no ambition! Could it be level of education? Compare our players and those from W Africa in terms of education. Most players in W Africa have gone far in education. Just listen to them talk on interviews, they are focused and they know what they want.

    • You are right. We need people like you who call a spade a spade not some of these that are always dreaming and hoping

    • @Anita, off topic, I now a grandfather at 51 and I feel happy. At least I have something to smile about other than our football at present uhuuuuuuuuu

  13. Little soccer brats! Who said Chris Katongo failed in Europe? Watch his youtubes on the Internet. They sold him because of his age otherwise he was a bomb. I have his videos. Kalu and Charly are the ONLY players to have made it? Are you sure??

    • Watch your mouth idiot. Who is Katongo and for which big clubs did he play for in Europe and for how many years? 4 seasons in all. He in Denmark for 1 year, Germany 2 seasons one in the first division and another in the second division, Greece one season and then China

Ati little soccer brats, my foot. Why didn’t your Katongo play for PSV or Anderlecht? It is a pity that when Zed soccer sinks pimps like you sink as well, face the facts

  14. On Mayuka I think its a setback in his career. We wanted him to be in Europe but that is not a case. Can Mayuka rediscover his talent? Mbesuma has scored for Aces again. He is a complete striker.

  15. It is not players plying their trade in Europe or where ever what matters but the composition of a team. When we had a formidable team in the 80’s most of the players where mainly locals. So the idea of saying Zambian football has plummeted to a level some of you are reaching to an extent of cursing some players is retrogressive. Even some of West Africans flops in major leagues but they are instrumental to the national teams.

  16. To remind you:
Mayuka played fantastic 4 yearsin Israel, Swiss and Europe Cup. Scoring goals against Club like Zenit and Stutgart.

Mayuka played above 15 games and scored 1 goal in Southampton UK premier league. Most player from Zambia to play in UK after was sold in 4.5 Million EURO.

Mayuka played OK in Frace and scored above 6 goals in 12 months.

8 years in Europe is a lot.

Probabley Egypt also pay him goodmoney.

  17. Since this new yoz have failed in Europe, here is plan B.New team! 1.Kalu in goal coz he knows how to keep( money).2.E.Mwanza,his duty is to prevent strikers from getting closer to Kalu the rest you can guess as the line up is endless.

    • That’s more like it.Words of encouragement and Counselling.Let him work harder. Its been downwards spiral lately for that lad but he could prove all the critics wrong.
