Young Tactical Mind Eyes Super League Role in Lusaka

Mutale Mbebeta, one of Zambia’s youngest and most promising coaches, is quietly eyeing a move to a Super League team in Lusaka as a second assistant coach, sources close to the coach have hinted.

At just 26 years old, Mbebeta’s resume is already turning heads. From winning the U17 Kitwe District League with Kingsfield Academy, lifting the Eden National League title with Lumwana Radiants in 2021 as Analyst, his journey reflects a sharp tactical mind not often seen at his age.

He recently served as Head Coach at Mazabuka United, where he orchestrated a stunning turnaround, moving the club from 16th position to 3rd on the log in just one season—a feat that not only saved the club from relegation but also showcased his adaptability and leadership.

A CAF C Diploma holder and video analysis expert, Mbebeta blends modern tactical periodization with practical game insights. His role as Head of Training Methodology at Kingsfield Academy allowed him to design training frameworks and academy philosophies, skills that would benefit any Super League team looking to modernize its technical approach.

His brief stint with Kanfinsa Blue Eagles as Assistant Coach saw him design and implement a positional / Relationism philosophy and player development plan, emphasizing youth integration and systematic performance improvement.

“Mutale is a meticulous planner and has an eye for detail that is rare among young coaches,” said a source familiar with his work. “His ability to analyze games, design tactical plans, and improve team performance makes him a valuable addition to any technical bench.”

As Lusaka’s Super League teams prepare for the upcoming season, insiders believe Mbebeta’s move could inject fresh ideas and energy into the team he joins, potentially reshaping its style of play and enhancing its competitiveness.

His ambition remains clear:

“I want to be one of the best coaches to ever coach the game in Africa,” Mbebeta previously shared.
With his blend of youthful energy, tactical awareness, and a growing reputation in player development, the Zambian football coaching market may soon witness Mutale Mbebeta stepping into the Lusaka spotlight, ready to help a Super League club write its next chapter.
