Who will partner Dominic Chanda in central defence? Mabika, Tandi or Frankie Musonda

The Zambia national team will this afternoon take on the Red Devils of Congo Brazzaville in the first of two international friendly matches set for the March FIFA window.

Coach Aljosa Asanovic has a blend of local players and foreign based Bullets at his disposal.

The ZamFoot Crew takes a look at the possible permutations at the back at the Croat’s disposal.

Zambia either line up with a back four or back three.

In defense new boys Aime Mabika and Frankie Chisenga Musonda could make their debut for the Copper Bullets.

While fans back in Lusaka will be clamouring for both to start, Asanovic might be taking a cautious approach having just seen them in one training session.

Should Asanovic be tempted to try out a back three to accommodate either Mabika or Musonda, then Lubambo Musonda and Rodrick Kabwe might start as wing back.

While all eyes are on the new inclusions, Kabwe Warriors’ Dominic Chanda is turning out to be Zambia’s Mr Irreplaceable at the back.

Chanda, formerly of Circuit City, has been an ever present at the heart of the defence in the past 18 months.

In a back three, it will be Chanda with either Mabika, Musonda or Tandi Mwape.

Should Asanovic stick with a back four then Chanda might be paired with his former Warriors partner Tandi with the new boys gradually introduced.

Benedict Chepeshi, Shemmy Mayembe will battle it out at right back, while Kabwe will go head of Prosper Chiluya at left back.
