#U20AFCON; Zambia, Egypt share spoils

The Zambia U20 National Team recorded their second draw at the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2025 on Saturday evening.

The Young Chipolopolo played to a goalless draw with the hosts Egypt to continue their slow start to the campaign.

Zambia created some chances in the match with David Simukonda and Joseph Sabobo providing the attacking threat.

Simukonda skied a golden opportunity in stoppage time after being played through on goal.

Egypt on the other hand came close to breaking the deadlock in the 67th minute when Ahmed Kabaka rattled the crossbar with a fierce shot from range.

Moments later, Mohamed Zaalouk fired just wide from close range, as the hosts ramped up the pressure.

The result sees the hosts move to four points from two games, following their earlier win over South Africa and a heavy defeat to Sierra Leone.

Zambia, meanwhile, have now played out consecutive goalless draws in the tournament, having also been held by Sierra Leone in their opener.

Sierra Leone remain top of Group A with seven points after their earlier 1-0 win over Tanzania, while Egypt sit second with 4 points.

South Africa are third with 3 points, Zambia are on two points with Tanzania bottom of the group with no point to their name.

Zambia now turns their attention to Tuesday’s penultimate Group A clash against East African side Tanzania, with qualification to the knockout stage still within reach.
