Lumwana Radiants relegated from the MTN Super League

Lumwana Radiants have become the second team to be relegated from the MTN Super League and just barely 48 hours after FIFA handed them a transfer ban for failure to honor contractual obligations.

This follows Lumwana’s 1-0 loss at the hands of NAPSA Stars. Mathews Tolopa’s first half strike sends Lumwana Radiants to the National Division One.

The North Western Province based outfit joins Indeni in the second tier of Zambian football.

The battle for survival now remains with six teams of which only four can survive; Forest Rangers, Mutondo Stars, Green Eagles, Atletico Lusaka, ZANACO, and Nchanga Rangers

Nchanga Rangers will survive relegation tomorrow should ZESCO United beat Mutondo Stars.

Elsewhere, Power Dynamos left it late to seal their eighth league title as Brian Masanyinga scored from 12 yards deep in added time to seal the title

In Mazabuka, FC MUZA shuttered Nkana’s dream of playing Continental football next season as they hammered them 5-2 after coming back from a goal down.

The Bad Boys, Atletico Lusaka boosted their chances of survival as they saw off relegated Indeni 2-0 thanks to goals from Benjamin Chisala and Thomas Chisi.

ZANACO also boosted their survival chances with a 2-0 win over Mufulira Wanderers while Red Arrows ended Forest Rangers’ 10 match unbeaten run with a narrow 1-0 win.

Green Buffaloes and Nchanga Rangers played to a goalless draw at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.
