U-17 PROVISIONAL SQUAD FOR AFCON RELEASED

Zambia Under-17 Men’s National team coach George Chilufya has named a 41-member provisional squad ahead of the 2021 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations to be staged Morocco next month.

Chilufya has retained all but one member of the squad which earned a place to the continental showpiece at the 2020 COSAFA Men’s Under-17 Championship, which acted as a zonal qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Midfielder Joseph Sabobo Banda and Charles Mumba, striker Rickson N’gambi and defenders Miguel Chaiwa and Teddy Khumalo are some of the notables in the squad which begins preparations for the continental extravaganza on Tuesday morning.

The tournament will run from 13-31 March 2021 in Morocco.

  1. The entire Zambian super league and division1 could only contribute 4 players to the Africa under 17 squad for the competition slated for Morocco. This tells us all the top teams do not have developmental sides. We should not be suprised our foot ball is not improving at all. It’s a shame. Organise a practice match against under17 players from super league teams to face the junior Chipos and see the outcome. We will have the same outcome as happened with the senior Chipos! New players will be identified.
