The former Zambia coach joins the Tanzanian giants after holding technical and coaching roles at FAZ, Red Arrows, NAPSA Stars and ZESCO United.
Former Zambia national team coach Honor Janza has been appointed Technical Director of Tanzanian giants Simba SC, with the club confirming his arrival on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The position is a new addition to Simba’s technical structure, marking a fresh chapter in Janza’s career, which spans national team coaching, club management and football development.
Janza is no stranger to Tanzanian football, having previously coached Namungo FC, whom he joined in December 2021. During his spell at the club, he won the Tanzania Mainland Premier League Coach of the Month award once.
He was also appointed interim head coach of the Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars, in August 2022, further strengthening his experience in East African football.
Janza’s coaching credentials include leading Zambia’s Chipolopolo at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. Appointed Zambia head coach in August 2014, he guided the team through the qualifying campaign before leaving the position in March 2015.
Following his departure from the national team, Janza returned to his role as Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Technical Director, a position he held until January 2017, when he took charge of Red Arrows. He remained with the Airmen until 2018.
In September 2020, Janza joined NAPSA Stars as Technical Director and later also served as the club’s Chief Executive Officer. His spell at the Lusaka-based outfit ended in 2021, when he was placed on administrative leave alongside other club officials.
He subsequently moved to Tanzania, where his work with Namungo FC and the Taifa Stars added to his experience beyond Zambian football.
Janza returned to Zambia’s club scene in December 2022 after being appointed ZESCO United Technical Director on a three-year contract. He later rejoined the Ndola-based club in June 2025 on a two-year deal, with responsibilities covering the senior men’s and women’s teams, as well as the youth structures.
Beyond his club and national team assignments, Janza holds a top-level coaching licence from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is a FIFA coaching instructor.
Days before his appointment at Simba, he was at the Tanzania Football Federation Technical Centre in Mnyanjani, Tanga, conducting training for coaches pursuing different levels of coaching licences.
His appointment brings extensive coaching and technical administration experience to Simba as the club introduces a new position within its football structure.
