Lumwana Radiants become the second team after Kitwe United to be relegated from the Zambia Super League to the Eden University/FAZ National Division One after six seasons in the top flight following a 2-0 loss to Indeni.
Indeni midfielder Tiki Chiluba opened the scores in the 7th minute after he benefited from a loose ball following a corner kick to beat Daniel Sikanyika in the Lumwana Radiants goal, a tamed celebration from Chiluba given that the nation is mourning following the passing of the First Republican President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.
Chiluba was again back at it in the 41st minute reacting fastest to a freekick to again beat Sikanyika and double the Oilo Men’s lead four minutes to the break.
In the second half was again Indeni who came out lively looking to extend their lead. Clement Mulenga called Sikanyika to task with a beautifully taken long-range effort but the Lumwana Radiants goalminder made an even better save.
Substitute Ricky Banda had a chance to get on the score sheet but his effort hit the post and went out. Lumwana Radiants could not find a way back and rarely created any meaningful chances, as Indeni held on to win 2-0.
The win takes Indeni to 41 points level with Power Dynamos who are currently taking on Lusaka Dynamos.
Lumwana Radiants on the other hand join Kitwe United as a relegated team after six seasons in the top flight. The win for Indeni also puts NAPSA, Nkana, and Power Dynamos
The North Western-based outfit first played in the Super League in 2016 after winning promotion the season before, and they finished in 14th place just two points above the relegation zone.
In 2017 they went on to finish in 8th place with 56 points, 16th in 2018, again just two points above the relegation zone, they then followed it up with another bare survival in 2019 transitional league and the 2029/2020 season.
