Morocco v Zambia, 1989
Morocco 1-0 Zambia.
At club level he started playing for Mufulira Blackpool as a 16-year-old and scored on his debut in 1979. At international level, he debuted against Sudan in April 1983 at Dag Hammarskjoeld Stadium in a Cup of Nations qualifier in Ndola, and scored his first goal against Uganda in a World Cup qualifier the following year at the same venue.
His last match was on 5 September 2004. Zambia played Liberia, and the match was tied 0–0 minutes before the end. Kalusha, aged 41, came off the bench during the second half, scoring from a trademark direct free kick to give Zambia a 1–0 victory.
I wonder if you BILLY actually posted this article lol…spot on my good sir and thank you for that long walk in memory lane…
Was it not Angola…na ka penalty so??
The last one ka? I think you right.
Great Kalu’s Zambia National Team last Game was COSAFA Cup, against Angola, on 21 November 2004 at Independence Stadium
In fact his last game, was against Angola. When he missed a penalty.
Ka last kalikonse kamaletelela olomubola upeza ati nichaeko penalty ka last upenza watuna.
since its throw back. can someone confirm stores of gost mulenga seing a train or a ball with knives during the game against zaire and that’s why he called nkafwa nayo. they sat he was barried in the middle of the stadium, but which stadium.
Ni ma story ya mu chibuku daddy-na dobo…very much on the same level with ‘use your left’ the boxer who beat Ali with a chained left hand! I have googled my computer for years to find answers lol
ok what about Germany vs Zambia, klinsman’s long white hair would cover the front part of his face then eford would shout to the defenders ati ‘nakapilibuka’ and yet he was actualy facing them.
Ati nima stories ya mu chibuku na dobo lol you really made me laugh
The “FACE” of Zambian Football
@Billy thanks for the info. And here I was thinking his last game was in a COSAFA CUP clash in which he missed a penalty.
against Angola if am not mistaken.
Yes indeed. The last one was against Angola when he missed a penalty in a COSAFA game.
Against Morocco. Scores 2-1 to Zambia. kalu scored winner from indirect free kick, given because goal keeper had a touch on its way in.
Nope, that game Zambia was in green adidas. This. One was 1990 World Cup qualifier. What an ugly donated jersey. Only comparable to our current Zawa like onne and my Nkana’s purple sprayed one
kaluu the great zonda uzalema…
The great King Kalu.True legend! Long live Zambia! Long live Chipolopolo! Long live the great Kalu!
Twabomiza…one great KALU
Billy-good stuff about Kalu! but I doubt if this picture is from those early Kalu days(83/84)….he was lankier than this pic shows… ‘and scored his first goal against Uganda in a World Cup qualifier the following year at the same venue’….I was there from Kabwe to see the new wonder kid in action against Uganda…If my memory serves me right the coach was Jeff Buttler and the likes of Michael Musonda,Jones Chilengi(c), John Kalusa… whom Buttler seemed fond of. Kalu was a lanky lad, then. I think on this game he was coming back from some injury….So everyone eagerly awaited his return. It’s so long ago….
Its just a football fable Man Utd,Tp Mazembe, the only game which Zambia lost was against a Katanga province select in which the Zairiens won by cricket scoreline of 13-1.The Zambiand did not carry a full strength squad due to other commitments. This was during the Emment Kapengwe,Sandy Kaposa era.The nkwafwa nayo story is just a fable I presume.
Okay Man Utd,the game was on 22 November 1969 the scores were Congo Kinshasa 10-1 Zambia.
