Tenant Chilumba finally takes chargeĀ

The Worst kept secret in Zambian football is finally no longer a secret as Tenant Chilumba finally took charge of ZESCO United on Sunday.

The former NAPSA Stars head coach will lead the ZESCO United technical bench with Emmanuel Siwale reverting to first assistant coach.

Chilumba was on the touchline as ZESCO United edged Power Dynamos 2-0 to win the season opener, Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Chilumba returned to ZESCO United barely a year after being let go together with his then head coach George Lwandamina after Zega Mambo’s early exit in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chilumba had an impressive eight months stint with Mufulira Wanderers before his return to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

The former Kabwe Warriors’ man will now shift his focus to the MTN Super League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The nine time MTN Super League Champions will start their 2025/2026 campaign at home against newly promoted Konkola Blades.

Meanwhile in the CAF Confederation Cup, Zesco United was drawn against Gabonese side FC 105 in the first preliminary stage.

The Ndola giants will be away in the first leg which will be played between 19th and  21st September in Gabon.

Meanwhile the second leg will be played between 26th and 28th September, 2025 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia.

The winner between the two sides will play either Mighty Wanderers of Malawi or  Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy in the second preliminary round.
