Despite the Chipolopolo packing their bags early at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, Zambian defender Stopilla Sunzu has made the cut in the BBC Sports statistical team of the group stages.
The China based defence kingpin has been paired with Cameroonian Aurelien Chedjou.
“Zambia may have been knocked out at the group stages but the defender made a stage-high 11 interceptions,” the statisticians stated.
Despite bagging two man of the match awards, Chipolopolo skipper Rainford Kalaba was over-shadowed.
According to BBC Sports, each player in the tournament was rated on numerous actions in the positions in which they play.

I think Kalaba put in more than Jali at this Afcon but I guess the people making the selection saw different.
Sunzu deservedly is part of the African squad. Chipolopolos early exit does not take that away .

Let’s just focus on our 3 national teams which are currently in camps ( U/ 17, 20 & 23 ) one of the three teams will bring glory to Zambia. Sunzu alikwata permanent injury from how I used to see his running and movements during those 3 games . Drs Kabungo, Mulenga and Shaloba also failed us on this one. Ba Patrick i think you better get somefootball knowledge. Its not Zamfoot who are the origins of this report, they are just reporting what BBC have done so far. This is not a squad that will play against any team, its a fictional team of players who have performed well up to the qualifiers stage, the best 11 so far. Someone wanted to blame Janza that Sunzu did not play well coz of Janza’s statement on his move to China. We the selection just shows that Sunzu put in his best, and i thought Captain Kalaba would make it but alas these guys went for names rather than performance. I mean man of the match in two consective games and not being picked, gives so many questions.
