French Ligue 1 side Lille has offered Chipolopolo defender Stopilla Sunzu a 3 year permanent deal at the end of his one year loan deal.
The Daily Mail reports that Sunzu, who was on loan at Lille from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, was expected to put pen to paper yesterday.
Sunzu, who confirmed the development in an interview from Lille yesterday, however, said the deal is subject to negotiations with Shanghai Shenua.
Sunzu was mainly second choice for Lille coach Frédéric Antonetti and he played only 12 out of the 38 games in the season scoring one goal.
However, with Lille sealing Europa spot on the final day of the season with a 1 – 0 away win against Saint Etienne, Antonetti will need a big squad for the 2016/17 campaign and Sunzu is likely to get more game time.
The 26 year old defender was on the bench over the weekend when Lille secured fifth position.
The Chipolopolo defense pillar clinched the move to Lille when Herve Renard was coach and will be glad to have secured his stay to play in Europe.
He is expected in the country today to join the Chipolopolo squad in camp ahead of the match against Guinea Bissau.
