Congolese striker Andy Bobwa Boyeli was the talk of town last season as he mesmerised fans with goal scoring prowess, netting 18 goals in the 2022/2023 Campaign.
Boyeli clinched the Golden boot with his 18 goals and was also named as the player of the year at the MTN Awards gala on 9th June 2023 held at Garden Court in Kitwe.
However this season the Congolese is nowhere near the conversation as he is not even part of the top ten top goal scorers so far this season.
A new name has taken over, Ivorian striker Michael Freddy Kouablan is now the new talk of the town thanks to his knack for scoring goals.
Freddy Michael has been in fine form so far this season. He leads the goalscoring charts in the current campaign.
He has so far managed to find the back of the net 12 times in 16 games and leads the goalscoring charts.
The Green Eagles forward has scored four more goals than FC MUZA’s Andrew Phiri who comes in second with 8 goals to his name.
Kouablan joined the Kawale Boys from Angolan side Desportivo da Huila at the start of the 2023/24 season.
He is also on a five match scoring run currently after his goal against Red Arrows last weekend.
He has scored seven goals in his last five games in the MTN Super League .
The lanky forward will be looking to extend it when the Choma based outfit welcome Nkwazi at the Independence Stadium this weekend.
He has surely hit the ground running and taken the Zambian football scene by storm and it will be interesting to see how many goals he will notch up at the end of the season.
With his scintillating form it’s no surprise that a number of big clubs in the MTN Super League have already started making inquiries and showing interest.
For now the Kawale Boys will just have to enjoy the moment and his goal scoring prowess as they eye securing a place in the ABSA Cup.
