Simataa Simataa says if FAZ was serious about calling Charly Musonda, they would have sent George Lwandamina to Spain to watch the player.
And Simataa, who is Charles Musonda’s personal friend, says the former Chipolopolo legend learnt about his son’s call-up through the FAZ Facebook page.
Meanwhile, sources have revealed that sports minister Vincent Mwale who recently met with the Musondas in London, intimated to Chipolopolo coach Lwandamina to consider Musonda’s children.
Charles Junior, Musonda’s third son, has risen to prominence with his skilful display at Real Betis in Spain where he is on loan from English Premiership giant Chelsea.
His older brothers, Lamisha and Tika, were also youth graduates at Chelsea and Anderlecht. “They have always known about Charles’ children for a long time, why now? And I talk to Charles [Senior] every day, he is the one that alerted me yesterday that, ‘Ba Simataa, I have seen on Facebook ati umwana bamwita (Simataa, I have seen on Facebook that they have called the child) but no one has communicated with him or us’…so that’s how I went to check Facebook and saw what was there and we talked,” Simataa said.
He said if FAZ was serious about calling Charly, they should have sent Lwandamina to Spain to watch the player as does Belgium national team coach Marc Wilmots who is keen on including the youngster in his Euro 2016 line-up. “We went to [Africa Cup in] Tunisia in 1994. Actually Anderlecht refused to release [Musonda Senior] because of the way he was treated after he was injured on national duty.
He was injured for a long time and Anderlecht decided to maintain him on the payroll because of the work he had done for them. So after Tunisia 94, then coach Roald Poulsen requested to see Charles but there was animosity from Kalusha as captain, so he was dropped. We called him again for the Gabon game in 1996 – the game that Gabon came two hours late.
There was animosity again, and this time he dropped from the team and he left, that’s it,” said Simataa who was acting FAZ president at the time. He said it was not fair to paint a picture that Musonda was bitter and unpatriotic when he sacrificed his health to play for Chipolopolo with an injury.
“Yes, he was abandoned but that’s why some of us started the healing process when I briefly acted in FAZ later in 1994. The man is not bitter, he talks to us. It’s a simple question; why can’t people at Football House call him and tell the nation that ‘we called him and he refused’? The minister goes to meet him, and you rush to Facebook without contacting the player or his parents, what are you trying to prove? They want in a few weeks from now to show that they are magnanimous, it’s not right,” he said.
And sources close to Football House said: “Yes the minister spoke to the coach about Charles’ children including those older ones at Chelsea, and the coach seized the initiative to communicate the minister’s views. But without initiating contacts, they rushed to communicate on Facebook. Actually nothing has happened behind the scenes apart from the minister’s visit.
Actually it has been suggested that FAZ sends Lwandamina to visit the family because they are not difficult according to what the minister related with them last week.
But we wait to see if George will be allowed to travel.” Musonda’s wife Angela has been the most vocal of the family, stating that her son had a choice to play for either Belgium or England and can’t be forced to play for Zambia. Efforts to contact Kalusha failed as his phone was off.

Its clear, this boy isn’t coming let’s focus on what’s ahead of us than wasting time and energy on this story…
If Charles is friend of Simaata, then I don’t want to even hear anything about Charles Musonda. We were better off without all these mud.
It’s true there’s no need to cry over pipo who don’t wana represents their roots..we hv enough talent in Zambia to do the job in years to come… Let’s go Zambia, here we come Russia 2028 bcoz Nigeria will fall
Russia 2018here we come
FAZ should have first considered Tika and Lamisha in the first place. It would have made easier for Charly Junior to consider joining Zambia.
Having said that, it’s all over as Charly Jr will NOT be joining Zambia. Lets just do with what we have. We have a lot of Zambian players who can be developed into world class players. We won AFCON without these Musonda boys. I believe we can still qualify to world cup without them. Let’s forget about them.
Let us move on guys.
Thanx billy its about time….
This Charlie story is becoming a pain now. From reports on Zamfoot it’s like the “beef” is on Kalu not liking Charles.
Lets not sow more division. All these story never came out til now. Simata is sown enemy of Kalusha.
Like @Billy says let move on and look at other issues. We have games against a vey strong Congo Republic who made sure Nigeria failed to qualify last Nations Cup. We have our work cut out.
Don’t argue from vacuum contacts this why FAZ must change the Head. Poor administration brings confusion. Why on the Face Book? Why rushing to a Face Book? Poor FAz administrators.
Yes.. we need to move on. we are over 13 millon. we dont need the special 5 please. its almost impossible when a mother gets involved & especially that she’s against the whole idea. Charly Cool could be patriotic, but the wife is definitely materialistic.
Kalu will go away saying, the coach called him i don’t have anything to do with which players are being picked.
They did it wrong this time but they can correct it next time, and they can do it by first calling his brothers.
I see nothing wrong here. Who doesn’t know Simataa. People are saying Kalu is jealousy of Charles. I beg to differ between the two kalu was and has been more successful and patrotric to the cause of Zambian footballthan Charles. Charles Musonda will give us a million excuses for not wanting his children to play for Zambia. Simataa you once acted as FAZ president, what did you do to bring an understanding between Kalu and Charley? Nothing. You are just lying.
Chi simata chabufi you acted as FAZ president and did nothing about the issue now you want to blame the current
faz new about the kids yes but simata you should know the constitution couldn’t allow the boys to play
Angela musonda is a very materialistic woman one time she said and I quote “it’s not upto us the boys want to play but the situation / constitution “now that the constitution has changed its the zambian who must stop hurrasing them
And iwe smata don’t compare Belgium with Zambia to send lwandamina to watch the boy play how can we send the coach to watch when we don’t even have the money for him
comparing the two countries it’s like comparing between denzel Washington and you simata as to who is more hundsome
sorry simata we know you are one of the reasons behind the differences
Abaume pa baume. Excellent piece. I✌
iwe chi Simataa u are just a hater!!!! U have never ever liked kalusha and now that there is this tag of war going on between charley snr and faz…u are very happy!! Listen Simataa..u and Charles are just hurting…
Simataa is a jealous of Kalusha talent.under Kalu we have won the Africa cup and qualified to all Africa cups.in 2004 we have failed to go to the africa cup zambian went to the doldrums.out of all zambian legends only Kalu decided to leave Europe for Africa to help zambia not Charles musonda, lucky msiska or stone nyirenda
Chi Simataa, Chi Simataa how many times have I called you iwe. Uicindike sana waufwa. you should be the last guy to speak about this shetanai
George Lwandamina says he has no regrets about handing Real Betis midfielder Charly Musonda a call-up despite the snub from his family.
Charly’s mother Angela issued a statement on social media over the weekend indicating that they would rather consider options from England or Belgium for the 19-year-old prospect.
Lwandamina said official procedure was followed and that it was not intended on undermining his Charly’s father and ex-Chipolopolo star Charles Muosnda who is also a personal friend of the Zambia coach.
He said it was only right to make a bold move on the boy for this months 2017 Africa Cup qualifier against Congo-Brazzaville considering that he is a strong interest for the senior Belgium national team for Charly’s services.
“Maybe I moved too fast before even talking to Charles. I would have loved maybe to go that way but I was too eager and thought we might lose out on the player,” Lwandamina said.
“If I offended Charles, I apologize.
“But we have heard some great descriptions of the boy from some great coaches, that is how great the boy is rated otherwise all Zambians have seen his potential and what we are talking about here
So what does Great Kalu has to do with this.
Russia 2018here we come ..we hv no bad feelings for the Musonda family but they should always remember that only God allowed them to be whr they ar n should learn to give back to God wat belongs to God by honoring their roots n not issuing statements that pleases European but they should issue statements that pleases God Almighty..
EH said she said they said. Stop it all and do what is right. How can Lwandamina say they used official FAZ procedure and Charles senior say they never contacte them, that it was through the facebook page? Is that the official faz procedure?
Are all the players called on facebook? I think not.
Does that mean they can’t accept the intimation because the process of calling them was wrongly routed. ngatabale fwaya ninshi tabale fwaya. You can take a donkey to the river but not force it to drink the water. All the parents can say is “Please use the established channels and our kids will come.” Otherwise let’s move on please.
Mwebantu mu chibemba we say” uwaitwa tafwala bwino” If the Musonda had passion to play for their country of Origin (Zambia), the channel of communication should not have been an issue here. If my friend invites me for Dinner via facebook i will simply go and attend as it is simply another communication medium currently being used.
Whether invited by tweeter, Facebook, letter, phone call or email it does not matter. All am seeing here is there is something more than the “why inviting him via Facebook”
Otherwise Nkwanu nikwanu as the easterners say. Meanwhile lets focus on what we have and prepare for CONGO. A bird in your hands is worth two in the bush. Chapwa! Go mother Zambia GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Simaata is not serious and that’s a dent on his perceived good leadership. If he was FAZ Chairman in 1994 and 1996 , and Charles Musonda was injured but wasn’t treated well , was Kalusha a Doctor then or someone who didn’t take care of Charlie? . And talking about animosity, why would a player show animosity to another player whilst the FA Leadership is in place? . It simply means , Simaata was a ‘cabbage ‘ FAZ Chairman, without teeth. Is Simaata also going to blame his predecessor (The FAZ Chairman who died in the 1993 Gabon Disaster for not treating Charles Musonda’s injury? ) . Simaata should accept that he failed in his duties to iron out perceived differences between the then star players in Kalusha. In those days , anchor house was full of problems,FAZ was always being raided by bailiffs and that’s why they could not afford to pay medical bills for players like Charlie cool. Sometimes, empty tins make alot of noise, that’s what I see in Simaata and his Friends like Kamanga.
It doesn’t matter how kalu played for Zambia …..Charlie is more successful in football because success is hw u use your investment on your family…which family is intact and successful…we work had for our family ..Charlie is organised with many years of experience in marriage with one wife..this other guy doesn’t even have a home …today his here tomorrow his there ..as the for the famous boy let us liv him alone guys he was born in europe and he has no idea about tulyemo , ukulishamo no no ..he operates under European standards ..if he come to Zambia faz will ask him to buy a return ticket while they claim his money from grz and chew it …these management styles that he may not have head of…and he will be frustrated…his never been to Zambia… U want to take him to that ndola kitwe road side motel ??? His never seen such …the boy will be confused …hey he has an opportunity of belonging a nation that is nearly currupt free ..common guys hw does he choose zed…Leave the boy alone we dnt have standards manage such a person …faz will frustrate the boy and he will regret chosing zed…they say imwe sunny tamulateya bola so teti mwambe ukufola so sendeni transport money fye eyi …that’s nonsense to to the boy those are African manners he does not have an idea that exist .CAN U SEND YOUR SON TO THE VILLAGE IN THIS DAY AND AGE YOURSELF …..REFLECT ON THIS ONE FIRST ( IMAGINE U STAY IN NEW KASAMA ,WALL FENCED , DSTV, JUMPING CASTLE EVERY WEEDEND,COMPUTERS EVERY DAY,GOING TO sch AT NKWAZI ..shopping at manda hill ) …certainly u know your son can’t cope ..so leave the boy alone they Zambian way of managing things will frastrate the boy ..
Zambia is not short of players.
The problem is poor management we surely need to change the whole board hope the minister has noticed that ukulyamo kwalichilamo they know they won’t get anything from the superstar moreover there’s a beef between charly senior and kalu since way back
We are told that between 1994 and 1996 smatta was acting as faz presdent.why did he allow this anmosity in the national team between kalu and charli cool?As a faz presdent he was suppose to sort this issue way back not know.smatta is a trouble marker and those people he believe what he says don’t reason properly
As a faz presdent that time he was suppose to sort this issue and as Faz presdent were was he when charles musonda was been droped from the national team because of kalu?so you see mr smatta you are a falure like your godfather Andrew kamanga
M.j FAZ shd no hw 2 comunicate. Y use a short way 2 a boy.dea 2 blame no 1 else.
Differ with your brother hurt your mother impossible????????????????
Charles Musonda and simataa kip your sons zambianfootball is bigger than both of you combined, charly jnr is a good player but we don’t need his pomposity
Since when did a coach kneel before the player’s parents asking for the player’s services to his own nation???!
Mwe bantu…bola panshi….zambia is for zambians….chapwa…not for the English, Dutch or Belgians….let us make do with we have …the way we have always done it….till winning the AFCON 2012…remember the old Adidas saying…IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING…we will proudly qualify for a worldcup..it may not be 2018…but we will one day…with a team of ZAMBIANS…i think we are too old and matured to be wasting time on such an old topic …in the words of FTJ….C’MON GUYS!
Ma rubbish, lets focus on Congo. Besides Kalu nifuti nafuti chanpwa ask ECL
SIMATA SIMATA HAS OLD SCORES TO SETTLE WITH GREAT KALU THAT IS WHY ANY THING NEGATIVE AGAINST KALU IS GOOD MEAL TO HIM.SIMATA CHARLES MUSONDA AND HIS WIFE ARE UNPATRIOTIC TO THIS COUNTRY.WE DONT NEED HIS SERVICES NEITHER THAT OF HIS SONS. WE WON THE AFCON WHILE YOU SIMATA AND YOUR FRIEND KAMANGA WERE BUSY CRITICIZING AND TRYING TO ILLEGALLY REMOVE KALU FROM HIS OFFICE.THE CUP CAME AND U LAMENTABLY FAILED TO CHALLENGE KALU AT THE AGM
Mr Charles Musonda Senior,
With due respect, it was not easy for you to feature for Zambia. Kalusha is no longer the FAZ President there is a new soccer sheriff in town, Mr Kamanga.
In view of my above observation, I not surprised that you would rather let your son play for Belgium than Zambia and that is your personal choice which I respect.
Even if it means to use local players for Zambian games then that is better than picking mercenaries of have no heart for Zambia. A battle is won with soldiers who are ready to die for a cause not mercenaries who thinking of how much they will earn hence would not want to die in battle.
We wish Charly Junior the best in his endeavours even if he does not feature for Zambia.
Please stop the blame game because Charly Senior does not want his son to play for Zambia since he knows where his bread is well buttered.
