The defensive midfielder will initially join the CD Leganés U19 team.
“We as Shamuel Soccer Academy are proud to announce the transfer of our player, Tumelo Mununga, to Spanish side CD Leganés. The 18-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract with the La Liga club and will initially join their U19 team,” read part of the statement from the club.
The club added: Tumelo’s journey with Shamuel Academy began after being scouted during our 2024 youth scouting program. Since then, he has grown into one of the most promising young midfielders in our system, known for his work rate, maturity, and defensive intelligence.”
Tumelo will now join Zambia U20 National team defender David Hamansenya and midfielder Gift Siame as the latest Zambian at Leganés.
Tumelo expressed his gratitude to everyone at Shamuel Academy for believing in him.
“I’m very happy and thankful to the entire Shamuel family, especially Evans Kangwa and Nir Karin, for believing in me. I will work very hard to make the most of this opportunity at Leganés and continue improving.”
Tumelo has joined a growing list of Shamuel exports, the likes of Miguel Chaiwa, David Hamansenya, and Kelvin Phiri.
