Road to Paris; Copper Queens eye to complete job at Levy

The Zambia Women’s National Team will look to progress to the final round of qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers.

The Copper Queens host The Black Queens of Ghana in the second leg of their Paris 2024 third round tie this evening at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Zambia carry a 1-0 advantage from the first leg thanks to a narrow win away at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

Forward Racheal Kundananji effortlessly dinked the ball over Black Queens goalkeeper Victoria Antwi Agyei for the game’s only goal in the 19th minute.

Coach Bruce is expected to make at least one change to bring balance to his midfield.

Skipper Barbra Banda who is just two goals away from her half a century goal mark is expected to lead the attack alongside the most expensive female football player in history, Rachel Kundananji

Kabange Mupopo, Avell Chitundu, Rachel Nachula, Fridah Kabwe and Comfort Selemani are also available for selection in attack to support the explosive duo.

In midfield, Evarine Susan Katongo and Ireen Lungu are likely to continue their partnership with a third player expected to be introduced with Mwape set to be a bit more creative with his choice.

Without the injured Susan Banda, Esther Banda could return to midfield or Mwape could push Pauline Zulu in the holding midfield role and give Tabo Miselo her debut in defence to Partner the amazing Lushomo Mweemba.

Martha Tembo is expected to start at left back with Catherine Musonda maintaining her place between the sticks.

Mwape is not short of options with Natasha Kapombo, Marjory ‘Sergio’ Mulenga, Misozi Zulu, Martha Katila Banda, and Judith Soko all available for selection.

For Ghana, Coach Nora Hauptle will look to the likes of Doris Boaduwaa, Evelyn Badu, Freda Ayisi, and Portia Boakye for a result against a strong Zambia side.

The match kicks off at 18H00 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Tickets are available at K20 early bird, K30 East, North and South, K50 West and K100 in all Shoprite stores countrywide via CompuTicket.

The winner over the two legs will face either Morocco or Tunisia in the fourth and final round.
