Herve Renard has arrived in the country with the Ivory Coast national soccer for an Independence jubilee friendly encounter to be played at the National Heroes stadium on Sunday.

The Frenchman who will be honoured with his compatriot Patrice Beaumelle during the Investiture Ceremony on the 50th Independence Day will be coming back to Zambia for the first time as coach since he left the Chipolopolo job.

Ticket sales will begin on Friday at most Post offices in Lusaka and a selected few on the Copperbelt and Kabwe.

However VIP tickets will only be sold from Football House.

  1. The only problem us Zambians have is that; we get so excited for nothing. This so called Renard and his boy patrice runaway to go and coach ivory coast thinking they have stars they will win everything, now they have just discovered how gifted or talented Zambians are and by the way let’s hope our excitement didn’t let us lose focus to screen these Ebola affected players including Renard and Patrice

  2. Ba Muzo was educating me about PB was hung out to dry after i said he let us down on facebook. Whilst i dont dismiss that he was indeed hung out to dry by Faz and the ministry i still feel let down PB. Not many believed in him but i did and think after everything that had happened he should have stayed to proove a point!

So i feel he let us down. So might say he had no option but the way he just left to go join HR, he could have left and given us the option to win him back. So yes let down i feel.

Anyway, whats done is done. We move forward.

  3. @kez kez, ebola affected players ?nd u allowed them into uor country? which right thinking country will invite ebola infectted pepo into her crib knowing the implications even after screening?das a sickening comment to make if only u arent joking!!

  4. Renard is a pathetic and useless coach I said it last time the guy has already lost 2 games in afcon qualifiers .ivory Coast won’t even be in the top 5 in Africa soon.

  5. We actually needed to give Janza time.
He needs to be fully in-charge and needs to settle.
He only took the mantle 4 months before the kick off of AFCON qualifiers and he was not even given enough friendlies to strengthen the team. He wasn’t even in-charge when we played the Uganda Cranes.
I feel some comments directed at him are unfair.

  6. @ Kasama Boy Janza has been a member of the technical bench for a very long time. Dont attribute only this time to him, he has been part of the decision making process on tactics and new national team recruits for some time, he is not new to the system, he has inherited nothing, all he has is what he has always had when it comes to the national team. This guy may have FIFA badges but he certainly lacks when it comes to practical experience. Maybe this is his opportunity to gain some practical experience, maybe after a few games he will have some direction and become a deadly coach but so far he has seriously fallen short.

  7. Welcome back Monsieur Renard and Patrice. Though you have moved on this will always be your second home. But we done with you coaching our team. We don’t want our blood pressures to go up. Janza has already stressed us enough.

  8. I don’t know about a German couch but personally i would go for a couch from the Scandinavian countries. These couches seem to do well in countries which are rebuilding their national teams. For example, we had Polsen from Denmark and Botswana also had that Dennish couch who took them to their first Africa cup a few years ago

  9. @ John 15 coaches so far have lost 2 or more games so I guess according to your reasoning all 15 coaches are “pathetic and useless” because they have lost 2 or more games. Even the great Steven Keshi has lost 2 games so is he also” pathetic and useless” ??

    • Big Steve I don’t know what you see in pathetic Renard. Janza will even do better
Ivory Coast does not lose at home. I was not shocked when drc clobbered them in Abijan. It’s typical and pathetic Renard.

  10. @ Roots, we are in a global world and I least expect you to e throwing dust into eyes without being caught. Stanley Tshosane was the coach who sent bostwana to the AFCON in 2012 and not a Dane. He succeeded his former boss Cowlyn Rowe

  11. Tank you for that information man. That Rowe was indeed a good couch for Botswana cause he is the one who had tried to revolutionize their team that time. Maybe we should try and locate him

  12. Welcome back coaches HR and PB. You will forever be etched in our football history and no matter what kind of acid or cleaning agent people who are ungrateful might want to use it will never work. The fact your fortunes weaned after AFCON 2012 that does not change the fact that you are a winner and a champion.

Lets focus on the football and benefit something from this friendly. This friendly was made possible and easier because of these same coaches. Whether they are bad or not fact is they are not our coaches. Today Sunzu and Nathan are in Europe because of the same coaches. We have our former footballers in Europe and what have they done to help?

Janza is something else. Let him up his game. He is too raw and naive but looking at the time he has spent with the team which is too long, let us start looking for a more astute and experienced coach who can make us a potential threat for the cup. Making SA and CV look favorites now.

  13. This game is crucial for both sides as players will want to prove a point to their coaches that they deserve to be in the starting line ups of the main team. Besides that it is good exposure for the locally based players. Whether the coach can rise to the occasion to finally discard the tired legs is something else.

    I see a 3-1 scoreline for Zambia.

  14. HR’s first job as national team couch was in Zambia and u gave him patience until he lost patience on his own.Why can’t u give your own man,Janza patience. He has just become fully incharge of the team.Previously he used be Technical Direct.Whats The Role Of T.D?

  15. Renard brought a mental toughness and disciplined play that had previously eluded the teams of the past. The 1996 team with this toughness, would have won Afcon ’96.
