Football Association of Zambia (FAZ ) President Andrew Kamanga has revealed that the National Team coach selection process has reached the final phase.
Speaking in his weekly update, Kamanga said the Committee had narrowed down the candidates to just three.
The Association last week announced the ten man shortlist for the Chipolopolo Boys top job following an influx of over 100 applicants.
“On the men’s side of business, the selection for the next Chipolopolo coach is underway with the candidates now down to three. We would like to commend the panel of experts that has been handling the process for the meticulous manner they have conducted the exercise. The wide representation across football stakeholders lends to the credibility of the process,” Kamanga said.
“We are grateful to the government for having taken interest in the matter which makes the process a lot easier. We expect the Chipolopolo coach will be in place in good time to help us prepare for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. With the number of players plying their trade in competitive leagues across the globe it should not be very hard to mould the Chipolopolo into a strong force.”
The ZamFoot Crew understands that Former Chelsea, Ghana, Maccabi Tel Aviv,Israel, Portsmouth and West Ham boss Avram Grant lead the list of the shortlisted candidates.
The other two according ZamFoot Crew sources are Wedson Nyirenda and Honour Janza.
A panel of experts comprising FAZ representatives, government, and the Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) interviewed and surfed through the candidates to come up with the last three.
The Chipolopolo Boys top job fell vacant following the departure of Croatian gaffer Aljosa Asanovic last month.

Yaba Grant zoona🙈
@Prince
Grant might grant us either failure or success. Wada and Janza is an expression of a useless of panel that selecting the coach
Zambia could not afford to pay the former Coach Asanovic. How are WE going to afford A. Grant who was getting about $50 000 from Ghana Football Association?
He is just made the shortlist to play on our minds. We know it’s either Wedson Nyirenda or Janza. I will eat the humble pie if I’m wrong.
