The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced a 10 man shortlist for the vacant Chipolopolo top job.
The Chipolopolo Boys top job was advertised last week with the UEFA Pro license set as the bar though the Association encouraged local coaches with National Team experience to apply.
The job fell vacant following the departure of Croatian gaffer Aljosa Asanovic last month.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has made progress in the selection of the next Chipolopolo coach with 10 candidates making the shortlist for interviews.
A panel of experts comprising FAZ representatives, government, and the Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) is currently milling through the candidates.”
Former Chelsea, Ghana, Maccabi Tel Aviv,Israel, Portsmouth and West Ham boss Avram Grant lead the list of the shortlisted candidates.
Former Al Ahly and Egypt boss Hossam Albadry, former Liberia boss Antoine Hey, English man Peter Butler, French man Sebastian Migne and Gert Engels.
Locals Wedson Nyirenda and Honour Janza have made the shortlist with Roberto Blanchi and Goran Stankovic completing the candidates.

Herve Renard was head hunted and brought the results for Zambia. We did not need to ask these coaches what they can do for Zambia. There are no politics on football pitch. Its about practical business. Head hunt is the best method of selecting coach. You don’t need to be told what someone will offer, you just need to review someone’s track record and achievement. Some people speak excellently but give them work ni ma below par results with a lot of excuses.
With those wishing Wada to take the mantle of Chipolopolo coaching job you have the heart for our National team. I also wish he takes the job and have Moses Sichone continue as assistant alongside Chris Katongo. Bring in expert physical trainer and goal keeper coach.
