Power Dynamos edge Lusaka Dynamos in practice matches

Power Dynamos yesterday defeated Lusaka Dynamos in two practice matches that were played at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium as both teams continue to fine-tune their squads for the upcoming season.

Dave Daka and Biston Banda scored two beautiful goals to help the Yellow Submarine submerge Lusaka Dynamos two goals to one whereas Lusaka Dynamos’s new signing Tadi Etekiama was on the scoresheet for the Elite side who succumbed to a 2-1 loss.

Dave Daka put the away side in the lead after slick play and interchange of passes from The Yellow Submarine with a beauty curled shot outside the 18-yard box in the top right corner as Monga Ndala was left with no chance and only the net shaking.

The match went on the break with Power commanding a 1-nil lead.

After the resumption, Tadi Etekiama whose expectations are high going into the main league restored parity benefiting from some miscommunication and sloppy defending from the Power Dynamos defenders in the box and he slotted home the equalizer from close range in an empty net after goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga had initially gone to cover his near post.

Daka who arguably put in a player of the match performance was yet again involved in a thick of things with excellent splitting passes and the end, Banda who also had a great display benefited from a pass in the box before finishing off the ball in an empty net after Danny Munyao was beaten in the box.

Elite failed to come back in the game as Powerful Dynamos held on to edge Lusaka Dynamos 2-1.

Earlier, in the first match that was played at the same venue, The Kitwe based outfit recorded a similar scoreline, the Coach Perry Mutapa drilled lads found the back of the net through Godfrey Ngwenya and one of the new players while Lubamba Were scored the consolation goal for Dynamos.

Power Dynamos are in Lusaka for a 2-weeks pre-season training camp and are expected to travel back to Kitwe after the weekend.

All in all, it should have been a great practice match for both sides who continue to Intensify their preparations ahead of the 2020-21 MTN/FAZ Super League Season scheduled to Kick-off soon with fixtures expected to be announced any time by the Football Association Of Zambia (FAZ).

Meanwhile, the curtain-raiser of the Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield which is the league opener will see Zambia’s 13-times Champions Nkana locking horns with the resurrected Ndola side Indeni who were the Champions of the 2019-20 FAZ/EDEN University National Division 1 league and will be making a return into the country’s top-flight football.

Atlas Mara Bank is the sponsors of this year’s Charity Shield that will be played on the 24th October 2020 and is slated for Arthur Davis Stadium in Kitwe billed for 15.00hrs Kick-off time.

The game will be played behind closed doors as a measure from the authorities in line with the Covid-19 regulations.

However, FAZ continues to engage the relevant authorities and other stakeholders with a possible return of fans in the stadiums.

The proceeds for the Charity Shield will be donated to St. Lawrence home of hope which takes care of boys between the age of 6 and 18 years.
