Patson Daka settles Kopala derby as Power win

Patson Daka’s goal was enough to settle the much anticipated Kopala derby between Power Dynamos and Nkana which ended 1 – 0 in favor of Power.

Nkana looked bright in the opening exchanges and the first chance fell to Walter Bwalya who out paced Francis Kasonde as he dashed for the box but his shot was poor and easily saved by Allan Chibwe.

There was a good run on the right which saw Reynols Kampamba head for goal but official man of the match Billy Mutale tackled him well to get the ball first amidst shouts for a penalty from Nkana.

Once Power had gotten in their stride, they bossed the midfield with Benson Sakala winning balls in midfield while Donashano Malama at right back for Nkana was failing to contend with the pace of Kennedy Mudenda.

Mudenda managed to get the better of Malama in the 12th minute after a good through ball from Kelvin Kampamba, but his shot was poor and easily saved by Scott Ngokene in the Nkana goal.

Power then breached the Nkana defense when Govender Simwala sent in a cross from the right which found Daka free in the area for him to head home in the 19th minute.

Power coach Dan Kabwe then made a tactical change which saw Julius Situmbeko give way for Victor Kashitu in the 27th minute.

This slowed down Power’s play as Nkana came more into the game and they were unfortunate to see a great effort from Soutra Tshimenga come off the upright on 28 minutes.

Despite making tactical switches in the attacking midfield and attack in the second half, Nkana failed to make any significant attacks to trouble Chibwe in the Power goal.

Power held on to a win which see the move to 49 points, one behind Nkana.
